Honestly I am of the opinion that MC had us play vanilla offensively for a reason. Didn't want to give Iowa too much to go off of, and really, with the exception of the big chunk gain on a broken play UNI had in the 1st half, they were flailing around offensively all game. Once we had a lead it was over, even if it didn't feel like it. Kolar was out also, and I would imagine that limited the offensive playbook pretty significantly

I have said it before and I will say it again.

If you don't have a 2 score lead at halftime against ISU and Heacocks defense, you won't beat ISU. Goes for UNI, Goes for OU.

Find one example in the last 3 years where that is not the case.

Takes some confidence, nerves and patience but it holds.

Yeah except Danny Mac would actually blow the doors off UNI like Iowa State always should to fcs schools

That’s not true. He did a few times but UNI tended to stick around with him.

And before anyone counters with CPR, remember the David Johnson.

FYI: loaded tix to phone first, then printed as back up. Phone scan worked at gate. So, printing as back up doesn't invalidate phone tix.

We arrived before noon with G7 pass and were told it was full. Paid $25 to park in Haunted Forest, which was an alfalfa field. Visited a friend in G7 later and saw dozens of open parking spots in just a small portion of the lot. Likely will be even worse next Saturday ☹️

They did a bad job parking G7. Gaps all over the place. I didn't realize they turned people away - not good for us next week when we're coming later from a kids soccer game.

We’ve played UNI 21 times. Of those 21 games, 12 have been either a loss or within 1 score.

I’m all about getting them off our schedule forever, but to think these close scares are somehow a recent phenomenon would just be inaccurate to our history with them.

edit: for ***** and giggles I looked them up vs Iowa. 3 of 5 games against Iowa with Ferentz as head coach have been single digit vicfories, with 2 of the 5 being one score wins.

There comes a point where you have to give UNI some credit.

It's not a coincidence that it happens over and over. There's also a one score game with Wisconsin in there.

It's pretty amazing what UNI does when you consider that Iowa State pays Campbell individually more than UNI spends on their entire program in a year.

I give them all the credit. Farley brings his team into those games ready to play.

There’s a lot of factors that go into those games. These games are always going to be the biggest games for UNI, outside of the playoffs, and they’re always going to be the least important games for the FBS teams, so you get that gap in enthusiasm for the game. Add in that a lot of the players are in state guys that have the chip for not getting offers from Iowa or ISU.

But Farley has his guys ready. And the fact that he’s created a history of winning some and being close in a lot allows him to really point to his guys in any year that they too can go into JTS or Kinnick and compete.

Washington, Illinois, Georgia Tech, and Vandy all just lost to mid majors. It could be so much worse. At least they won

FCS teams beating beating power schools happens. We all know about NDSU's exploits, but schools like EWU and James Madison routinely put scares into their power conference opponents.

Not to bring the Hawks into this, but remember when their Orange Bowl team needed to block 2 FGs to hang on vs. UNI?

What sucked was that it was a brutal game to sit through. But, end of the day, it's on the side of the W/L column that matters.

Hope our guys are fired up for Iowa and we open things up more.

I thought it was strange when walking to the car and somebody with UNI was saying. “ISU fans, this way, away from the UNI band bus.” Like was it ok for UNI fans to get within 50 feet of their buses or do they believe the lying trash Hawk band and think an old lady is going to molest their band because she is a Cyclone fan?

I don’t think it’s the idea that uni doesn’t deserve credit. It’s the fact that they lose terrible games in the conference and are never a playoff factor, when they should be every year.

i get the inherent advantages NDSU has financially, no other programs to compete with etc, but there are not many fcs teams that should be ahead of uni.

There really aren't. UNI has the second most playoff appearances, the third most semifinals and even during a 'down period' here, we've got 6 appearances in 9 years with 9 wins.

Anyway, I'll leave it here. You guys know me, I'll be around. Now beat the GD Hawks...

So nothing worth reading. My general thoughts. A win is a win and CMC has enough on tape to get the teams attention and start fixing problems.

On to the Cy-Hawk game.

There’s never anything worth reading in the game day threads. 90% of it is just Clonedude and Zuricyclone complaining and whining from the first snap about how awful we are, how we won’t win a single game all season and how Manning needs to be fired (even if our first snap is on defense). It’s a tale as old as time.

Agree and even though ISU has more scholarships it is really negated being the first game of the season so no injuries that would hurt Uni more than a team with more scholarships.
