We’ve played UNI 21 times. Of those 21 games, 12 have been either a loss or within 1 score.

I’m all about getting them off our schedule forever, but to think these close scares are somehow a recent phenomenon would just be inaccurate to our history with them.

edit: for ***** and giggles I looked them up vs Iowa. 3 of 5 games against Iowa with Ferentz as head coach have been single digit vicfories, with 2 of the 5 being one score wins.

Manning completely forgot about the TE’s in the pass game today. I get that probably wouldn’t happen if Kolar is active, but we need to play our game no matter what. Wasting targets on Scates and Wilson at this point. Also where is Shaw?
Not entirely. Purdy missed a wide open Chase

Doesn't matter who we play, it will either be a nail biter like today or a game like Louisiana last year. Seems like that is the way CMC teams roll in September. I shouldn't be upset considering what ISU used to be and I will always trade a September loss for a conference championship game. But come on......we are ranked in the top #10 to start the year. Let's coach and play like it instead of playing not to lose.
Interesting game. Defense looked like it was trying to shake off the muscle it built up over the winter. Slow and sluggish at first. But after that touchdown the old defense showed up. Play calling is always the first go-to complaint. Clearly, they stacked the box. That's when audibles should emerge and receivers need to create separation. Towards the end, it almost felt like CMC was daring the offensive line to create a hole through that wall. Zone reads against a stacked wall, imo, just don't work as well as man up and straight ahead blocking.

It's not on us, the fans. It's also not a common thing, either, for a team to struggle so badly year in and year out against an FCS school.
Yes. FCS. But UNI is probably more motivated, definitely had a massive line, and returned what I believe I heard was more players than even Iowa State. So, they had other things going for them which I, previously, didn't think they had.

Uni is very rarely out talented at the fcs level.

they will still lose 2-3 games they shouldn’t this year, because the quarterback play will be inadequate, and Farley will dig in his heels because he knows better.

As we have seen and learned throughout MC's tenure, he really struggles early in the year but manages to get it figured out by October. This game was on par for a MC opener.

I expect ISU to make progress from week 1 to week 2, but it will still be a team that will be frustrating to watch.

Can anyone give me a summary of the thread so far? What did I miss while I was at the game and tailgate lots?

I was disappointed with a couple of things at tryce today:

1) no juicy wiggle?!
2) no sweet Caroline on the PA after the game (yes I know alot hate that)

Any others?

I love the experience... But why stop such a good thing with juicy wiggle?

I think Juicy Wiggle is for when there is some huge energy/play. I think with 2mins left if Brock would have got the first down to seal the game we might have heard it.

The band played Sweet Caroline, but it was after the team had left the field after the Bells of Iowa state.

No smoke on the water, either

Honestly I am of the opinion that MC had us play vanilla offensively for a reason. Didn't want to give Iowa too much to go off of, and really, with the exception of the big chunk gain on a broken play UNI had in the 1st half, they were flailing around offensively all game. Once we had a lead it was over, even if it didn't feel like it. Kolar was out also, and I would imagine that limited the offensive playbook pretty significantly

You’re pompous fuckwad.

Oh isn't that cute! There is resident idiot @zuriclone - the most coward of all 'cyclone' fans, calling Cyclone fan stupid!

How's it going @zuriclone - some more overreaction today? Can you get your 12 year old ass out of here?

Not just week 1 , most games are slow starts by the offense , at least the special teams are giving a longer field for the defense to defend this year.

Sure, It's every week right @zuriclone the coward? Is this the start of your "replace CMC" campaign or are you just hoping to get hired as an advisor to Manning?

You do have a point about helping the defense. Last year the STs were so inept that the defense could only muster 8th best in the nation against the run.

And this weekend, it wasn't long we out gained or outscored the other team.

What about all the turnovers we had - how do solve for that?

Good thing we have you to help us understand how pathetic a 1-0 start and Top 10 National ranking is

What will ISU do differently with this roster than last season and before that?
