I also was really frustrated that Purdy and other 1s, were still in there at the end. Why would they do that. i just don't get it. Soo much risk. I wish the press would question CMC on this.

I'm not worried so much about BP getting hurt (I am but) but I see value in Re-al getting live reps as he's likely getting in later because BP has to sit some plays out. And MAN Re-al stands out on the field...

I just watched the highlights on cyclones.com, and one guy who I thought stood out was Chase Allen. It was nice to see them get him a TD after he sprung Purdy with a big block early. A lot of the big runs went to the left, but they looked like they were sprung by Knipfel being able to pull with Allen lead blocking. Really looking forward to a rosy JJ three sticks piece this week.

Don't know if it has been said here yet but worth saying again - Our special teams has been below average this year but Rivera has had a couple of solid games and that has made a difference in us managing field position.

A couple of those KOs were head scratching but they also got a TO and a nice KO return. No real game changing plays from TCU’s dynamic return guys. I guess you could say mission accomplished for the special teams.

Get your bad “old angry man” takes out here. Those uniforms were incredible, and ISU is still undefeated in the black jerseys (3-0).
All I want is a little Cardinal and Gold around the numbers or something! Is that too much for a dues paying Alumnus, Cyclone Club, Season Ticket holder to ask? ;) FWIW my angry old ass was sitting in Cyclone Stadium for every home game (including the 1991 Blizzard Bowl vs. Colorado) but one (Kansas in 1990) from 1989-1995 (UNLV) when I moved out of state mid-season (job related) - including all of the dreary games from the 0-10-1 1994 season. So, I have earned my "Angry Old Man" Status" :p

That makes sense! I was in the corner on the other end of the field and not paying 100% attention. Thank you for the clarification.

I think that particular one was just a combination of a bad squib kick and TCU planning for it so they could set their front man up to nab it instead of having it go over his head.

On one of the runs at the goal line the entire left side of the line pancaked their guy. Brought a tear to my eye.

Agreed. Was really happy to see him get on the field here and there. We gotta find a role for him somewhere. Just unfortunate for him that he's stuck behind the guy who could very well turn out to be the best QB in school history

Doubtful as he went back in on the next offensive series

Yeah, saw that and was a little surprised. We'll see what happens after they look at the tape more but guessing even if they are mad at him it will be an internal thing and not something meriting much discussion.

Although, RandyP will be investigating this ISU thuggery for sure! ;)

I thought TCU guy threw a punch and Scates wanted to throw a punch but had his arms locked up the whole time. Also thought it was weird refs didn't even attempt to break it up for about 10 seconds. I think all of them were hoping the other refs/players would do it.

On CMC's post-game, while I couldn't hear the question, CMC said he didn't want reagor to beat us in the return game.

Some of the stuff people ***** about at games is absolutely mind boggling to me. Tiny inconveniences that don’t even register in my brain to warrant ******** about on the internet. Get ahold of yourselves people.

With that said, yesterday was an absolute blast.

There is no need to question CMC on this when it's not that hard to figure out on your own what was happening at the time. There are and will be good times to pull the 1's and turn the game over to the reserves. The last 3 possessions of the game were not one of those times.

The drive that started with 9 minutes to go was the time to turn a 2 possession game into one where the outcome is no longer in doubt. Need your best out there.

The possession after the kickoff turnover was a growth opportunity for the entire team. You have to punch it in at that point to reward the special teams for their outstanding job. It almost didn't happen when Jirehl lost the ball. Order was restored when Lang came back in and scored. A key point in this drive was the 3 unsportsmanlike penalties. When the game is getting chippy (hadn't really been up to that point), it's best to have your guys who are used to being on the front line in the game.

The last possession was simply a chance for the 1's to prove that they can run the clock out when given the opportunity. If there is a tight game down the road, the 1's rather than the 2's will be the guys trying to get to the victory formation. A final point is that CMC knows better than anyone what his 2's are capable of doing. I would expect that there might be some plays available that take advantage of their skills and strengths. I would hope that they aren't putting these on game tapes at the end for future opponents to game play for.

I get what you're saying but I think there was an aspect of the one unit is finally operating at a good clip and let's reinforce that.

I wanted to see the reserves in the game, but at some level I understand the desire to leave the starters out there and work on the running game with live snaps. It has been pretty anemic post DM, especially on obvious run downs.
