If Prohm wants to play two bigs he can’t expect to play the same way he has the last few years. Has to play slower, more physical, and better defensively than any of his other teams.

The other choice is to ratchet back the big man minutes and play 4 guards. And right now, I don’t think we have 4 guards good enough to do that for long.

My guess is this will be a challenge all year, to win games we gotta play like k state with this roster, and it’s just not what he wants to do.

Good point. I doubt Prohm would ever go full grind-out, but you have to develop good amount of inside-out with a bigger lineup.

One good thing I will say --

Michigan was 57.7% from the field (!!!) but had 22 turnovers (!!!) to our 9.

A turnover is as good as a bricked shot. We bricked a lot of shots, but we did not waste many of our offensive possessions on turnovers, either.

We had 69 shots versus their 52 from the field (!!!).

If we keep ball-hawking like that and generating turnovers, then that goes a long way towards making up for our LeBricktastic shooting. Looking through the box score, that was the only reason we were remotely in that game.

We are getting there on defense faster than I thought.

The offense just needs to catch up. If it does, this is a very good team.

Post game with CW and Travis said we were a hot mess. I didn't see the game but their take was we didn't turn over Michigan so much as they were just careless. Their thought was if Michigan was simply a little less careless they would have scored 100.

Obviously we have to do better than 20% from 3, but we lost this game because of our defense. We had ZERO intensity or focus coming out of halftime. Having an opponent shoot 66% from 2 and 50% from 3 is hard to overcome. The only reason game seemed more competitive was Michigan's 22 TO's

Our coaches need to instill some nastiness in these guys. I see a soft team

Offensively, we need to change our approach. More motion & cutting.

Lastly Prohm needs to recruit a big post like Teske. We struggle against teams with bulky post length. Purdue, Virginia & Ohio State in recent NCAA losses.

I generally agree with this, but you have to start building your résumé for the tournament as early as possible. Neither Oregon State nor Michigan were bad losses in isolation, but we missed good chances for what would ultimately be good wins.

We gotta start working on it soon.

Screw getting better for the tourney. Only thing that matters is getting better for the next game.

Yeah, they've been competitive in every game, however Illinois has been bottom of the barrel both times we've played them and the 2017 Iowa win was in Ames against the worst Iowa team in recent memory. So out of 9 games they have exactly 1 solid win, and that was in Hilton against Iowa Prohms first year.

So a W is not a W. That's some creative interpretation there.

They also said that Tyrese’s length was giving Michigan’s PG fits, and it was. One team’s “bad day on offense” is another team’s “good day on defense.” They are related to each other, if not mirror images. Michigan was careless at times, but we did pressure and were opportunistic when they made mistakes.
