He is showing up as a lottery pick in some mock drafts I have seen lately.

Let's hope he stays there. It would frustrate me to see another NBA-worthy guard from ISU not get the recognition they deserve just because the NBA is weird sometimes.

I know that this season is different than last year and the circumstances are different, but I had a similar feeling when we lost to Arizona in Maui. Played well, looked like we could've won the game and played well enough to win, but fell short in the end. In that game, we shot 4-24 (16.7%) beyond the arc, and lost by 5. Last year when we played Iowa, we shot 26% behind the line.

I firmly understand that we are not going to be as good behind the 3 point line as we were last year, I'm just saying we have to let things run it's course. I do not think we're as bad as our stats show we are and think we'll continue to improve in that area.

4-5 it looks like after today, beat Illinois and Iowa twice, lost to Iowa twice, Purdue, Ohio State, and Michigan.
And if it means anything we got handled by Iowa in the two games we played them and the other three we were in the games until the very end.

Yeah, they've been competitive in every game, however Illinois has been bottom of the barrel both times we've played them and the 2017 Iowa win was in Ames against the worst Iowa team in recent memory. So out of 9 games they have exactly 1 solid win, and that was in Hilton against Iowa Prohms first year.

Thoughts...

-- Haliburton looks like one of the Monstars out there.

-- Bolton is alright. Flashes enough to stay in the starting line-up.

-- Nixon needs to stop shooting NOW or ride the pine.

-- Jacobson and Young are solid.

-- Not a great game by Conditt, but he is still one of our five best players.

-- Grill needs to play more/start over Nixon.

-- Jackson and Griffin are still feeling it out.

-- Generally proud of them for playing hard against a good team and fighting to come back, but these losses are piling up. We have little margin for error now.

-- We need to 2-0 the rest of this tournament and beat Iowa. Period. We are on life support for the NCAA tournament if we lose any of those games.

They lost to a good, veteran team today. With this team’s grit, they still have the potential to score some big wins that could help the resume. If we beat Alabama, the loser of Seton Hall/Oregon is another opportunity. So is SH at home.

The problem is that with the current shooting and defensive struggles, they could also be vulnerable to bad losses, which we absolutely can’t afford.

Enjoy TH this year because he won’t be around next year barring injury.

I'm a huge fan of the kid, but I'm going to have to see him excel in Big 12 play before I would make that call. He does ALMOST everything great. But he cannot create his own shot, and needs to have a good 1 second cushion in order to get any other shot up. I don't think the shots that were allowed today are going to be allowed in Big 12 play.

Hell, I hope he scores 20/game and turns pro, but I'm not sure that is the reality. I know these 'experts' hype these kids, but those things mean nothing. THT was supposed to be borderline lottery...ended up 46?

Let's enjoying watching him develop. He seems like a true cyclone, so I'm banking on one more year...and a very nice run.

Need to get a lot better at the details, and quickly.

Not a bad loss, but it seems as though we’ll have plenty of “good” loses this season

I generally agree with this, but you have to start building your résumé for the tournament as early as possible. Neither Oregon State nor Michigan were bad losses in isolation, but we missed good chances for what would ultimately be good wins.

We gotta start working on it soon.

We have a tremendous opportunity to beat two quality teams to add to our resume in the next two days. I'm excited to see how we bounce back tomorrow.

Tyrese is so impossibly good. We would suck without him.

Everybody else had a blah game.

Is this thread more or less negative than the Arizona "We will never even win 15 games" thread last year?

It should be more negative. This years’ team is less talented all around than that group, and can’t shoot. And still can’t defend or rebound consistently. Through 7 “games” thus far, we’ve lost 4. I don’t see a tourney team.

I highly doubt the guys taking those shots are absolutely clanking them in practice. Hell, there were 4 or 5 of them that were in and out of the rim, so a lot of the misses were actually good misses! The shots are good looks and for whatever reason, we haven't been making them. Prohm isn't going to tell Prentiss and Bolton that they need to stop shooting threes because that'd be idiotic. Now, does Prohm need to tell Prentiss that some of his shots were forced? Absolutely.

We have to keep doing what we're doing. Clean the little things up, especially on the defensive end. The shots will start to fall, because the percentages say they will. We're absolutely a better shooting team than we've seen.. We've got to just roll with the punches a bit here and try and figure things out.

Look, we've lost two games against two tournament teams that have both come down to the wire. We had opportunities in both games to win and have come up short. I trust that Steve and his staff will figure things out and put this team in the best opportunity to succeed now and later on down the road. Beat Alabama tomorrow and then let's go get Oregon / Seton Hall and feel good about ourselves coming back home.
Jesus just because they beat us doesn't make them good. I have my doubts about OSU and Michigan is a middle of the pack B10 team.

The entire team looking at Haliburton when a shot needs to be made.
