I feel like I’ve watched the same Iowa State game 1,000 times. At this point I’m just numb to the pain.
Ou in the champ game...last year all our losses were the same...get behind, try to catch up and didn't have enough...same with the two losses

We did.

Also really pathetic is - so X is short of the sticks, OK - 4th and inches. What does literally EVERY player on our offense do!? They look to the sidelines with TOTAL confusion! In THAT major moment of the game, our offense had NO idea what the next call was going to be. The staff had NO idea what to do. So they spun for 10 seconds, everyone continuing to look nervous and confused, and finally we burn our last time out! Which OK fine, time out is fine I suppose. But in that timeout - our staff decides to KICK it! Our staff, after allowing everyone to have total confusion with the game on the line - finally calls time out, had a chance to digest the situation and correctly go for it on 4th down - instead decides to put their extremely rattled freshman kicker out there!

It’s beyond bizarre how chaotic and mishandled that entire situation was.
My wife asked when we hired Les Miles...

We had a minutes left on 4th down then ran the clock and called the timeout. Minute is MUCH different than 30 seconds.
Oh I know, but they were not ready to decide, they pissed around and weren't ready, and they wasted too much time.

FIFY. The dude has one thing on his mind. X. If he isn't open, he doesn't know what to do. He's got a heck of an arm, but he needs to figure out how to read a defense. He had guys open down field and X is getting doubled or tripled on the drag routes.
Agree. Somewhat like Kyle Kempf with Lazard…except X is no Al Lazard (he’s good but no Lazard) and Dekkers is less experienced with a lower football IQ than Kempf

Honestly, if I’m an AD at a high profile school, seeing how ISU loses games has me thinking CMC is not the guy. This game wasn’t just a loss, it was a total **** show.
Not willing to go there. But Campbell has a lot of self reflection to do here.

There are some issues that seem to repeat. To fix them he may need to let go some of his friends. This is a business afterall.
Heacock to Campbell: I think we’ll keep things in front of us and rally to the ball. Might give up some yards but it’s really hard for a college team to string together 15 plays without a mistake.

Campbell: I like that strategy.

Manning to Campbell: I think we’ll try to string together 15 play drives by running 2 yard crossing routes. I like our chances of not making a mistake.

Campbell: I like that strategy.

Bonamego to Campbell: cat lamp ball orange vroom vroom sandwich mitten

Campbell: I like that strategy.
Haha!

This strategy will get us in trouble.

Campbell: I like that strategy.

The one that killed me, was the delay of game after the possession change. That is really really bad, and 100 percent a coaching problem and a huge sign of disorganization and lack of planning.

Linemen can be downfield blocking if the receiver catches the ball behind the line of scrimmage. They were checking where the caught the ball, I assume.

We were 4 of 5 on 4th down conversions, but didn't go for it when it would have mattered most. ISU had 4th and a foot from the 19 yard line with 60 seconds on the game clock. How many teams have been able to move the ball 80 yards in 60 seconds, but we cant go 19 yards? It happens all the time, but instead Campbell was satisfied with giving himself a 50% chance at best at sending the game to OT. He had a nearly 100% chance at picking up that 1st down with a QB sneak.

4th and inches. You get up and QB sneak it for a 100% for sure 1st down. You do it 1000 times out of 1000. It isn’t hard. It really isn’t.
LOL. Far from it.

99.99217% with a proper coefficient of variance.

These are odds worth mulling over.

If you are a KU fan, you had to be relieved when Campbell decided to kick a FG in that situation. The worst that could happen is OT.

Now I think Campbell has no choice but to give another kicker a try. Gilbert's confidence has to be shot.

So here is my take, Campbell is our best coach in history. Check yourself.

He has faults like everyone. One of his being that he is loyal to his people. But that has also been the reason he is still here. So again, check yourself.

The problems I see are, poor offensive scheme, especially for the lineup. Poor play calling, Poor offensive execution, Poor O Line blocking in both pass and run. This caused a young QB to get flustered and make mistakes. These are on the OLine Coach, and the OC, and because CMC is the final call and the one that does not make changes to either the overall schemes/work them out or change the staff as needed it also does fall on him.

This is also a huge problem on special teams and has been for years, yet we still dont hire a coach. This one is on CMC.

In the end CMC is still our best ever coach. Everyone expected us to have a down year, but when we beat Iowa we got our hopes up. But still take a breather, realize we need to fix things, and yes CMC needs to address the issues. But in the end he has done more for ISU football than anyone has ever. So lets cut him some slack. Lets remember we are rebuilding, and we lost a lot from last year. We were hopeful but we do have some young guys to develop. I do think CMC does need to address the above issues, but I do think he has earned some respect.

I remember years ago they sat down and redrew the entire Defensive plan and it has been top notch ever since. It is time they do the same for the offense. I hope they do.

If he was going to miss. Really wish he would of hit the uprights again. 3 for 4 on the uprights. 1 for 4 field goals made. That would of been impressive.
That would've put him in Cody Parkey type rarified air.

Everyone remembers his double doink vs Philly in the playoffs. But earlier in that season, he drilled the upright 4 times (all misses) in a single game vs Detroit, which the Bears won somehow.
