I think a little sell doubt crept in on the Wisco side after that. It's kind of like: you feel it's your year in the Tourney and then something like that happens and you think: well, maybe it isn't.

I don't think his absence on the court lost them the game. Obviously during the season they've had to play without him due to foul trouble at times.

We played shorthanded too due to our foul trouble with a huge discrepancy in fouls called in the 1st ½, so...

His stats and stuff didn't matter but it put doubt in their heads and made a few guys play uncomfortable in their positions. I thought the attitude/mind set shift was visibly apparent.

I've watched about a half dozen Bucky games this year and their point guard was almost non-existent. After he went down-- he was almost elevated to John Stockton status.

The play he got hurt on was about the 3rd or 4th time Hunter had gotten to the basket on a cut or dribble drive.

Watching the highlights, that was the easiest time ISU had to the basket in about two months.

Gabe misses bad on threes but he hadn't gotten those kinds of looks on those jumpers in a real long time.

Our whole conference was big dance worthy.

No game is gonna be anything we haven’t been through. Tech is probably the team I want to avoid most given we outplayed KU on the road.
This is playing out almost perfectly.

Still have to beat Miami to have a chance of anything further, KU, etc.

And keep in mind the teams that are advancing are playing the best, at the moment anyway.

Davison’s foul where he stomped Conditt’s ankle should have been an automatic ejection. He could have ended his career with an intentional violent foul.

Instead the homer refs called a foul on George. How do you foul a guy who can’t even see who is stomping on his ankle and shoving him in the back?

Horrible one sided officiating throughout. Dead right that ISU only won because they were 16-20 pts better. They made 6 more field goals.
Can't wait to get some of these 'horrible' calls. And there were quite a few I thought also. We only shot about 34% overall, and only 3 of 14 from 3 (21%). Thankfully W didn't shoot well either.
Am I in the right place to hear more about how great Johnny Davis is?

:jimlad:
Yup. Crickets.
Davis is 20 times the player Murray is.

Does he usually look 10000x better than he looked last night?

He was a poor man’s IB last night.
Low percentage shots, bad defense. Half his fts were not earned, just bad home court favors.

Doesn’t look athletic enough to start as an NBA wing.

Again outside of ISU and Iowa I watch more NBA ball. Murray strikes me as a non All Star but starter, Davis looked like he’d play role similar to Nader and looked physically small and weak compared to Nader. Although Nader’s career likely done now due to mounting injuries.
And for the next star player we come up against, to have a bad night.

I thought Spero sounded just like Mike Tirico. Anyone else hear that?
I thought he sounded more like Al Michaels. :)

HaHa. Who sounds like Mike Tirico, who sounds like Al Michaels.

I actually thought Jim Spanarkel sounded just like Mel Kiper, Jr.

Frankly a Big10 championship trophy and two quarters might buy you coffee in a couple of Big 12 arenas. Might.

I hope that ESPN's Tony 'Korny' Kornheiser will someday find out what TJ looks like, and learn that his last name is not Atzelberger.

This is one of the most annoying recent trends in sports announcing. They employ all these remote rules analysts, feel free to use them to discuss wrong calls even when they aren't going to the review monitor. Gene Steratore literally has nothing else to do...
The recent trend of immediately flashing to the players family every time they do something, is annoying. No, I don't care how they are reacting, get back to the damn game.

In small doses, those are fine. Same with shots of coaches/bench/famous alums. Mix it in here & there, it adds flavor. It doesn't have to be get equal screen-time with the game in-progress.

It isn't a "recent" trend, but it seems even more extreme this tournament.

Three from the Big 12 is still pretty good. And who would have thunk ISU instead of say, Baylor?

TCU made a nice run and almost pulled it off last night. AZ's got some good players.
Baylor still got a one but looked suspect the last half of the season.

Exactly, I've watched alot of their games also and hes just a role player. His usage on offense is one of the lowest on the team and Davis has better assist numbers.

Everyone knows their offense runs through Davis and Davison but the announcers act like Michael Jordan just went down.

Maybe next time Gard should actually try recruiting a backup point guard.
