Dayton relied on the 3’s for a lot of their scoring. Hope their legs are a bit tired after the late game yesterday. Will need Jackson to have a big game. To me, that was the biggest issue with the second half yesterday is they stopped feeding the post.
A win would had been a great resume builder for March... but ISU will have plenty of other high profile games to boost their resume. To be honest, I wasn't so much focused on winning or losing, but rather how the team would look against elite competition. And they certainly looked like they belong in the conversation as an elite team.
With that said, got to take care of business today. TJ tends to get his guys refocused quickly - the first 5-8 minutes will tell us if they are indeed focused or not

Is Dayton a top-25 team this year? Did they just shoot out of their minds against UNC yesterday? Fill me in a bit on them
Hoping it was a memphis type situation. Just played very well, but in this tournament, who knows
their best player from last year got drafted to NBA
They struggled against Northwestern and they struggled with Ball State
Ball State is picked 7th in MAC and NW is probably a bottom half Big 10 team.
They were making a lot of 3's yesterday and were more than 10% above their season average on 3 point shots..
Average about 10 turnovers a game.
Dayton was picked to finish 2nd in the A10 so they are good team from a good basketball league
To summarize they are ISU light, good guards who play D and scoring is distributed amongst 4 or 5 guys most nights

These are the situations that TJ’s militaristic culture really prepares the team not to get too high or low. They will be ready.
Please give Watson some minutes tonight. We missed his help on defense and rebounding in the 2nd half.
They are a very undersized team, according to Kenpom their most frequent lineup is 5'10, 6'0, 6'3, 6'7, 6'8. Please put a 5'10 guard on Keshon!
If we get into another offensive funk of not moving the ball I hope TJ calls timeout and resets the team quickly to avoid any long droughts.
If that happens, we would get 2 games in 3 days against the most hateable coaches in all of college basketball.

After last night's frustration, the sun rose again. Sunrise over the Haleakala volcano crater was spectacular. Made it worth getting up at 1:45 am to take the tour. Now we're headed back down the mountain for some breakfast and a Cyclone victory over Dayton after lunch!
