Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of more CuJo..

However, if he gets another year, what's the point of having freshman and sophomores?? Just go get upper-classmen and waiver their eligibility until they are 25+

In all fairness that’s kind of what everyone is doing. Just taking 1 or two freshman per year and filling the rest up with older transfers

Mostly for the practice squad. Older players want to play, but there's only room for 8-9 in the rotation. So the staff brings in 3-4 freshman, and if one of them earns playing time all the better.

Only elite freshman are going to be major contributors at the P5 level. If you arent an immediate contributor as a freshman, stick around and develop, or transfer down a level, develop, show out at the lower level, and then transfer back to the P5 level as an upperclassmen.

That is the way of the world right now.

If Curtis Jones is able to get one more year? Whoa! Yes! There won't be 10 better returning players in the country.

If allowed to return, will CJones make more $ at ISU or "going pro?" (An obsolete term.)

Does he have a shot at the NBA or is his future in Europe?
He definitely has pro range. I don't know jack, but I think he seems like an NBA caliber player. He has the athleticism, the range, the defense, and the "it" factor. I think the same about KG. We are incredibly lucky to have this back court. I loved the 2000-2001 teams, and this guard court is as good (maybe better?) than that one. Tinsley, without a doubt, is the best guard IMO, but this this team's guards overall are better and more consistent.

Even elite freshman often struggle. Look at Edgecombe - top 5 kid in America, projected first round nba. Zero first half points. It’s an old man’s game. I love our 4 freshman recruits and Nojus - but TJ needs to get a big time portal guard, to bridge the experience gap next year.

If we get the German big, do we have a scholarship available for a guard if everyone comes back that can?

It also feels like with recent recruits and reported targets, we may be getting back to more of the 6'6"-6'7" true small forward with slashing skills going forward.

I agree. I think Curtis is a pro, probably in the NBA. He's averaging 16.6 points, 3 assists and 4 rebonds in 28 minutes and he does it totally within the offense. Really good at the defensive end too. And he makes it all look effortless.

His ball handling ability, play making ability and limitless range makes him an intriguing prospect. Sort of reminds me of Jordan Poole but obviously less of a douche.

And to think he almost wasn’t a take for this staff. We had Pav and Keshon committed and slow played CuJo when we were his #1 option.

Funny how things work out.

He put up 44 in the game before that! He and Batemon can score!

I thought I heard Williams/Blum say that Tech's Darrien Williams was who we thought we would get in the portal that year but, after DW chose Taco Tech, we went to plan "B" in CuJo. What an outstanding "back-up" option, huh?!

I love Jones and his improved driving ability and confidence going into the lane this year, but I don't know if NBA scouts are giving him much of a look. Doubt the guy gets drafted, but he could sign to the G League with a chance to prove himself.
