I love Jones and his improved driving ability and confidence going into the lane this year, but I don't know if NBA scouts are giving him much of a look. Doubt the guy gets drafted, but he could sign to the G League with a chance to prove himself.
Yeah I think that is his route. Matt Thomas stuck around the league for a few years and Curtis is the same height, Just as good of a shooter but is a little better of an overall basketball player than Matt in my opinion. He also could get drafted in the late 2nd round. I don't think so though from everyting I have seen.

I think if he were a point guard he would be rated much higher for being drafted. Curtis isn't a good enough ball handler to run point so I think he's a little bit undersized for an NBA shooting guard. He's also a twig and needs to put on a little more muscle at the next level.

Yeah, he’s a natural 2 guard but lacks size and athleticism at the next level.

He’s also 24 years old. 5-6 years older than other kids going in the first round. He’ll be viewed as more of a finished product as opposed to other draftees, which hurts his draft status.

Bingo about the age part. That's a massive factor.

Starting to see some positive mentions of Killian floating around. The staff was impressed with KT's game and wanted to get him signed before his recruitment blew up and that might be happening.

Hopefully the kid is a suprise. Sounds like he is starting to hit his stride. 2.5 steals a game. That is a TJ type sounding defender.

I don’t see how he gets it, but that would be a season changer.

Due to the injunction granted to the Vandy QB, my understanding is that the NCAA issued a blanket 1 year waiver to all athletes who spent part of time in Juco for next year. This is just a waiver to protect the NCAA from other lawsuits until a final ruling is made in Vandy QB case.

Just attended a session about this at the soccer coaches convention last week. Only complicating issue here could be that he still got four years. I don't know wording of waiver, but my understanding is blanket waiver meant anyone who played at Juco.

Yeah that’s well known

As you said, he still played 4 years even if removing that juco year. Hard to imagine getting to apply the juco wavier to a non-juco year, simply because the juco year was already waived due to Covid.

The only hope is the fact the ncaa capitulates on any attempt at a wavier now

NCAA might be doing whatever they can to avoid law suits right now. Hopefully they will give him the year extra. After the Womens basketball player a few years ago not getting the waiver, i don't have much hope.

What would our lawsuit be?
Imo even the ncaa would fight a guy that played 4 seasons of ncaa basketball getting another year

It's a blanket waiver, supposed to be no application. If they played in juco, the one year blanket waiver should apply.

Yes, that’s also known. It being a blanket wavier that doesn’t require an application isn’t in question

He cursorily meets the basic criteria of the blanket wavier in that
1.) he previously played at a juco
2.) he would have expired his ncaa eligibility at the completion of this year….and otherwise meets all other eligibility requirements (e.g. five-year period eligibility).

But it’s the five year eligibility rule that is seemingly an issue, as it stipulates an athlete cannot complete in more than four seasons, and those seasons must fall within a period of 5 years.

He’s played 4 seasons in D1. A blanket wavier doesn’t necessarily mean he can use this wavier on a non-juco year.

But if Wade vs NCAA falls in favor of the plaintiff, it’s moot

Indian Hills with 2 kids in top 25
not saying isu will or should recruit them
but worth noting given the success of one former Warrior on ISU
Plus they may end up just being older, more advanced freshmen, if the courts rule against the NCAA

Taking a Juco right now would be like taking a freshman but already having two years of higher level playings. Would be a good place to recruit Bigs if there is one down there. Since you can semi see what you are getting. Unlike JT Rock types that might not ever see the floor.

Rock will play, just not yet.
