While I agree I don't want to see a trend of Commitments/De-commitments if a recruit is having second thoughts it is much better for them to re-open their commitment right away like in Diante's case than drawing it out into the fall. The Bama staff knows now it still has the need for a SF for the class.

I agree with this too. Just all depends on the recruit's intent, which is sometimes obvious.

Sounds like Tre Mann could still be an option. And there is at least some mutual interest.

Now Bain is reporting that ISU is "actively" recruiting Tre Mann... (face palm)
Well the narrative the ISU wasn't in contact can now end after a week.

Makes a whole lot more since with the Kane ties, Mann was excited to hear from him right after re-opening his commitment and is aware of Prohms history of PG production.
Obviously Tre Mann should be moved a top priority of the summer recruiting in my mind.

Another quote from Tre in a 247 Article about his recruitment re-opening. No ISU mention at that point, though.

“It’s really just the relationship with the coaches,” Mann said of what he’s looking for at the next level.

“The school is just extra for me like when I go see the campus and stuff like that, it’s really just the relationships.”

Short update on Tre Mann. Not really new information other than Florida and Tenn are the favorites as of today.
Though I do think it is odd both were in his final 3 already thus not sure of why he'd decide to reopen his recruitment instead of just moving the date if he really isn't open to new schools.

"Originally down to a final three of Florida, Tennessee and Kansas, Tre Mann had decided to announce his commitment on July 30. That is no longer the case. NC State, Iowa State and North Carolina have since become involved and many others are expected to enter the picture, too. However, I still feel like Tennessee or Florida will be Mann''s eventual landing spot."

Greer said that Foster measures 6-9 in socks. With four years to go before high school graduation, it’s hard to say where he ends up.

“His growth plates are obviously still open but nobody knows. He could be 6-11. He could be seven feet. He could be 7-1. We just don’t know yet,” the coach said.

7-1 and going to Iowa. I like the sound of that.

I shouldn't say anything. Xavier Foster is probably a perfectly nice kid. I just miss Woodbury so much.

I think I miss Kane more though. What a great and hilarious Woodbury being Woodbury move here.

Yeah that doesn't make any sense to me. Highly skeptical that Tenn or Florida will be where he ends up if he opened up his recruitment.

Recruiting always seems like it has momentum. Stuff starts falling into place quickly after the first piece of the puzzle comes in.

Not to mention to start with a kid that had a really high profile and high ranking. The kids in his class know how good he was pre-injury and it could cause them to take note that ISU got him.

I don't see Mann as a very strong option for us. I think our options are Kyky, a Juco, and possibly another Juco or Transfer.
It seems like Mann and his family are happy ISU reached out after the re-opening. Not sure what that really means, but its a better spot to be in than out of his top3 haha. I think even if we got Mann, he and KyKy (ComboG) could play on the floor together.

Getting any recruit with the ranking of Mann is difficult and I wouldn't put ISU as a favorite but, we know Prohm won't back down from the competition. Prohm has a history of identifying realistic targets and only prioritizing them if there is a real chance. Tre's recent quotes on ISU/Prohm and relationship with Kane at least show the cyclones have his attention. I won't be getting overly hopeful until a visit to Ames is set but there is no reason to not to recruit him hard at this point.

With Kane’s relationship it gets our foot in the door.

Prohm is riding a NBA hot streak with former players right now and stepping into the spot LW will leave next year should get us a serious look.

I don't think Mann is a total impossibility as he clearly isn't completely sold on Florida or Tennessee after taking those officials and reopening things (doesn't mean he can't still end up one of those places). Curious to see if we can lock in an official in August. While still probably unlikely, that would make me a lot more optimistic. UNC does have a point guard commit already FWIW... will be interesting how fast they move on him.
