Is the net usually cast this wide? To be certain, I don't pay close attention until there's only a handful clearcut potential targets but it seems like we're evaluating a lot of guys. It's early, but is that normal?

Net cast this wide in terms of this many recruits in general or this many recruits from all over?

Pretty normal "net" of targets. The staff really isn't extending any "new" offers rather just watching players they have been in contact with in the spring. I actually think this indicates they are pretty confident on their current relationships and zeroing in on who the want to get visits from.

July is open recruiting period thus there are recruiting experts and coaches at the same events resulting the public knowledge of who they are looking at. Truth is alot of schools are at the same events looking at the same players just because Prohm/Kane/Robinson are in attendance should mean specific players are higher priority. Multiple games with hundreds of prospect in a tourney lead to that. Well know at the end of August the true targets when visits are set.

Also as you watch reports and see twitter posts, understand the staff are evaulating recruits from multiple years. The 2019 list isn't that long.

They evaluate recruits for years. However, Recruits from nowhere pop up and finally hit some potential like zion did last year.

True, there are a couple of players every year that "pop" in the summer and go from mid-major to top 100 level during the summer. I haven't seen ISU jump in the recruitment of any of those types like they did with Zion last year.

One other factor that may have expanded the target list late was the addition of Coach Kane. ISU recently became involved with Kai Jone, Tre Mann, Zeb Jackson and Diante Smith due to his prior relationship with them. I am sure Prohm is prioritizing watching them live now where as, they he wouldn't have had Berry not left.

Update on Mylik Wilson.
https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/basketball-gems-were-on-display-in-vegas-on-thursday

"The state of Louisiana is underrated for basketball talent, and the next in line from the Pelican State is Mylik Wilson. The Rayville native can really put the ball through the basket, and after helping his Woodz Elite team come through for the W, Wilson continues to look the part of one of the best microwave scorers from out of the South.

A sneaky athlete who can score from each level on the floor, Wilson is at his best out of the mid-range with the balanced and elevated jumper attempt. He has plenty of potential as a perimeter defender, thanks to his light frame and instincts which, coinciding with his already strong value on the offensive end, could make for a solid two-way producer in college.

He told Rivals.com that Auburn, Virginia Tech, Iowa State, USF, Louisiana Tech and Stephen F. Austin were among the schools in strong pursuit. A cut list has not been made just yet, but he is planning on scheduling a few of his official visits next month. I would expect a commitment to occur sometime this fall and a signing in November."

This is intriguing, obviously Kira reclassifying would complicate Prohm's recruitment this year.

@jeffborzello ESPN 100 guard Kira Lewis said last night he hasn’t decided yet whether he is going to reclassify into 2018. Plans to look into it further after the July live periods ends.

Listed Alabama, Auburn, Indiana, Kansas, TCU, Ole Miss, Iowa State among the schools recruiting him.

Interesting. I wonder who is seeing if he can reclassify? Bama?
