I hope our offense doesn't go stale where it is just the Jones show like ASU. Saying that, don't want Gilbert going hero ball dribbling in the lane trying to go through 3 guys.

Need Chatfield to step up and understand his role. His role is picks, rebounds, dunks, and layups. If he gets the ball and needs to turn or take a step for a shot, that is a no go. He should pass it out.

A look at the Arizona players:

#1 Caleb Love - 6'4" 195# CG - 5th yr Sr; UNC transfer in his second year at Arizona - this will be his 157th college game, a huge number. 3rd team AA last year, but has regressed this year, shooting 30% from three and under 45% from two in conf games. Leads them in scoring at 15.3ppg (was over 18 last year). Takes more threes than twos on the season. Very good FT shooter and seems to be sharing PG duties with the other two guards. Other than his 27 pt performance at OSU, he hasn't scored over 10 points in the last couple weeks and is 3-19 from three.

#0 Jaden Bradley - 6'3" 185# CG - Junior; played FR year at Alabama - came off the bench last year, but is starting and much improved this year. 35% three-point shooter, but takes more twos than threes - 53% on two-point shots in conference play. Leads them in assists around 4 per game. Averaging over 37 minutes a game in conference play - doesn't come off the floor much

#5 KJ Lewis - 6'4" 205# CG - Soph - Comes off the bench as the third leading scorer and plays 26 minutes a game. Not a three-point shooter (1-12 in conf play - no jinxes!), but finishes well, shooting almost 62% on two-point shots. Also has around 4 assists per game, but will turn the ball over.

#3 Anthony Dell'Orso - 6'6" 190# SG - Junior - played two years at Campbell - very good shooter (14-26 from three in conference games) - also 14-14 on FTs (jinx!). Plays about 20 minutes a game and only has had 5 turnovers in 8 conference games. Scored almost 20ppg at Campbell last year. Went 6-9 from three in their last game at Colorado. From Australia.

#4 Trey Townsend - 6'6" 212# SF/PF - 5th year Sr - played 4 years at Oakland (MI) - Not a long-range shooter (3-12 in conf games) - playing just over 20 minutes per game. Seems like more of an inside player - good FT shooter.

#30 Tobe Akawa - 6'8" 250# PF - Junior - played 2 years at Tennessee, about 12 minutes a game at TN, now is starting at the '5' and plays ~18 minutes a game. A++ rebounder, especially on the offensive end (gets 1 of every 5 Arizona misses when he's on the floor). Doesn't score much (6ppg) - probably solely on put backs.

#13 Henri Veesaar - 7'0" 200# C - listed as a Junior, played sparingly 2 years ago, no stats for last year - averaging 10ppg in conference games, but really up and down. Scored 19 in their win against Baylor, followed it up with 0 in their loss to TTU. Can shoot the three a bit - 5-11 in conf games. Good rebounder. Averaging 20 minutes a game off the bench. From Estonia and played HS ball in Spain.

#9 Carter Bryant - 6'8" 225# PF - FR - Top 20 recruit nationally, has started playing more and better recently. In the 8 conf games he's shooting 44% from three and 83% from two. Loads of talent, but still pretty raw.
Great breakdown. I'll build off what you have to add some AZ fan perspective, with some general info not visible on paper. I'll start with the guards:

1) Dell'Orso will probably start he's a sneaky good athlete. Idk what his comp is, because he's very slight but a smooth player and much better athlete than he looks. Maybe Caleb Grill, but that's not ideal. He's smoother with similar sneaky good hops and quickness like Grill has.

2) BUT AZ fans strongly favor KJ Lewis. He's kind of their CuJo 6th man who is really more of a quasi-starter, just with a different game and more bulk. Him and Bradley are both very efficient 2-way players and balance out Love's hero ball tendencies really well, IMO.

3) Everyone knows Caleb Love, he's a classic high volume scorer who kind of hogs the ball a lot. It can go really good or really bad, and it's not always best for the "team", either way. He's the big name that everyone recognizes. And he still has a very eye-catching game with overwhelming athleticism and skill that really jumps out at you. But he's more of an X-factor than a true leader despite his numbers and dazzling style of play, if that makes any sense.

4) MOST Arizona fans think Jaden Bradley is their best player for the same reasons they think Caleb Love is not. He's more of an efficient scorer and a two-way guy who also makes his teammates better. Not a very big guard physically, though.

5) Bradley, Love, and Lewis will play together A LOT, and get most, if not all, of the key minutes. They match up physically in a weirdly similar way to Lipsey Gilbert and Jones when you watch them.

BUT, I think we have a better version of a pretty similar style backcourt.

Weird to hear them describe Gilbert as our PG and Lipsey as a shooting guard. I know it doesn't matter too much, and Gilbert and Jones have had the ball in their hands to initiate a lot more this season than last. I still think of Lipsey as our starting PG all the time though.
I think it’s accurate - Keshon has been initiating the offense much more than Tamin this year. You could also view Gilbert as the Lead Guard, Curtis as the Scoring Guard and Tamin as the Defensive Guard.

Does Dell’Orso ever play the “4”? I think if he or Townsend is in with the 3 guards, we’ll go small with Watson and Jefferson and switch everything.

I think the obvious fear is that one of our lulls gets us down 12-17 points, as opposed to the 7-10 points we can typically keep it at. We've been good at keeping deficits manageable when we aren't playing our best ball, but this is a different beast. Can't afford to get down double digits.

You might not know it but Chatty was almost 40% from deep on 56 attempts 2 years ago. I think he's capable of shooting anything besides dunks and layups.

9:30 CST tip time? Going to be tough for us middle-aged parents;-)

Heard it was all because ESPN has begun some virtual golf league that's playing on ESPN beforehand and is forcing back the Duke 6 p.m. typical Big Monday time slot and the 8 p.m. Big XII Big Monday time slot. Boo.
