So the worst case scenario after this run of ranked and one "probably should be ranked" teams is 2-4, with two extremely tight losses to Baylor and Kansas. OK, one loss, one thievery.

That's awfully good. Just go feast on the bottom feeders and seal the deal for the big tourney.

what bottom feeders?????
(KState beats Tech, TCU in ot w/OU, OkSt ahead of Baylor, etc, etc....)

That game was probably the best we’ve looked on both ends of the floor for two halves. Only gripe I’d say would be rebounding and FT shooting at the end. Such a big win for this bunch. Was a breath of fresh air watching Gabe today. He was smart with his shots and he took good care of the ball.

Tyrese is the real deal folks. As he gets better from 3 (he’s a gym rat and it’ll happen) he’s gonna be damn near unguardable. Conditt is in his own head right now. Just is so indecisive and it leads to bone head plays, but it’s two games in a row now that Bob has come in and stepped perfectly into his role.

Hunter is so, so explosive. It can look like he's just barely moving around and then he's gone, or he's above the rim.
Guy is awfully tenacious for a freshman.

Absolutely. What I’m most impressed about is his defense and leadership. He truly knows how to guard and that’s really uncommon with freshmen coming out of high school. He really reminds me of Davion Mitchell from Baylor and by the time he’s a senior he could be better than him.

The inconsistencies with todays officiating crew was frustrating to say the least. Not allowing our guards to move their feet and slide laterally with the defender is one thing but then letting Texas ride our guys defend the inbound/setting up the press is another. It’s the same damn thing, why is it ok on one end but not the other? It has to be better.

The block call on Gabe at the end was the cherry on top. This crew struggled. Their first two calls on Texas to start the game were just horrible too. Jon Rothstein tweeted out about how poor officiating has been across the board this year.

Although we can't directly compare the schedule leading up to it (or predict what'll unfold hereafter), same record as the 2013-14 team after 17 games, both overall and conference.
The other interesting parallel with that team is the comparison of DeAndre Kane and Monte Morris vs. Izaiah Brockington and Tyrese Hunter.

Eerily similar.

They just as well let them ref from home via Zoom….. o_O. Might be better….. can’t be worse!

Agreed. This place would have come unglued had one of our guys been called for those fouls that Timmah was.

The first problem is 50- and 60-year olds jetting all over the country doing 5 games/week.
Do they have to be 50-60 year olds? Seems like a similar problem to MLB in that they can cull officials that are past their prime.

Well, you do have to have enough younger ones going/staying in the business ...not necessarily the case.

They don't have to be 50-60. They just are.

Then there's the "boys club"/politics of it all, too. You can be a great official, but it's hard to move up and get a good D-1 gig if you don't know the right people.

The great thing about this team is when someone is struggling someone has picked up the slack.

It's a give and take, as I've learned from years on this board most people under 50 are pretty stupid.;)
I love our younger brethren. I'm not going to hold their inexperience against them! :)
