ISU played an absolutely horrible game and Drake played well. You can't go on the road and play that poorly and expect to win against and in-state rival. The loss sucks but I'm not giving up on this team yet. Every team has some bad games. I don't think this ISU team is going to have many games worse than this all season.

- i do not understand why we continued to switch on screens, forcing scott to guard a big guy deep in the paint. it made drake look unstoppable. we made ZERO defensive adjustments.

- scott is NOT a point guard. hes a shooter off the bench, perfect six man. start mcgee

- we shot horribly from the field and had way too many turnovers

those are my three reasons for why we lost to drake. its only the second game of the season, but we definitely need to adjust or 'enjoy' a ten win season. wooooofta

while people won't admit to it...last years team would have blown past this Drake team...

PG- Big advantage to last year..awful this year here
C- While I don't like Vanderbeken...he would have really helped this year...his shooting would have opened up the inside and he could have even played SF tonight.

We also miss an emotional leader like JA...he got the team pumped and would chew out guys if they didn't perform...saw none of this tonight..

If we have a good team, this loss will end up being a wake up call and we will be stronger for it. If we don't, well then, I guess we just got exposed early.

don't get why FH plays SC at point guard...he's arguably our best player and making him do something that isn't in his comfort zone is very shocking...

Why not have Allen play point? SC is better than Allen so why have SC sacrifice his shooting when Allen chucks up 40 footers?

PG- Anyone that will play hard and smart not named Scott
SG- SC
SF- Babb
Pf- White
PF- Booker
From the look of this game, Allen's hip pointer has caused his decision making ability to mirror that of a 3rd grader. Seriously though he does not seem up to par physically and I think he would be best coming off the bench at this point (injury).

I was at that game at Knapp in 2000. Even though we lost, I still thought that team played tough. This team is SOFT. You can not play SC at the point, Big 12 guards will eat him alive.[/QUOTE

Every time I flipped back to the game I saw Scotty getting beat at the top of the defense. How many times does he need to get beat to get Fred to move him out of the top of the zone/switching-man-to-man?? I find it hard to believe Scotty is our best option at the point.

SC has NEVER been a good defender - that has ALWAYS been the knock on him. Why are people expecting anything different this year? He is GREAT spot up shooter, that is about all though. Ejim is still trying to figure out his place on this team. The others are all new and think that they have to do everything on their own. We are dealing with transfers that sat out all of last year just watching the games and waiting for their chance. Now they are trying to prove something.

scotty should be a shooting guard not a point guard. he is a player that comes off screens to get distance to make his shots. you are taking his skill out of the equation by him playing point guard.

simple make a freaking free throw.

Winner. Refs sucked, team sucked, the knapp center is a snakepit, one that even snakes wouldn't be proud to play in (I wouldn't even want to have that as a practice gym), but in the end, make an acceptable % of the free throws and we win.

a head coach with a pretty face and no experience, a top assistant who's a glorified aau coach, an nba intern, and a guy who's best experience is a couple years at Dayton. What do we really expect?

This also has me somewhat concerned as well. Hoiberg got it handed to him tonight BIG TIME by Phelps... and it wasn't close.

Why you don't throw Sledge out there to at least see if he can provide a spark at some point is beyond me? He might be the closest thing we have to a real PG. And he couldn't possibly play defense any worse than Scotty. IMO, Sledge might be able to penetrate and dish, or at least break down the defense somewhat?

Ohhh... and how in the world does Hoiberg think we're going to be this run and gun team when we always walk the ball up, and we never seriously press? I think we might have 4 pts on fastbreaks in the last 2 games combined.

Way up there

I think the Scotty at PG thing is blown way out of proportion. Essentially all our guards do the same things, Scotty being announced as the PG shouldn't change the way he gets involved in the game. Its on Freddie and Co to make him part of the offense.

As he should. He needs to get this team motivated to play. I wish he had more Eustachy or Floyd in him.
