You think ND will play ISU as 1 of there 6? i dont think so...
Why not? The played south florida as part of their big east deal.

I am not bashing ND at all - I would love it. I personally think that BCS teams should be forced to play ONLY BCS teams in the non-con. I HATE games like Texas/Middle western technical institute. I actually like seeing competition.
I am just pointing out that if the big 12 did do this - it would FORCE 6 of the 10/9 teams to play a tough non-con game every year.
Question: Why (according to Chip) would ND want to join the B12 as a full member after YEARS of rebuffing offers from the Big 10 and the Big East? This just doesn't add up.
Take WVU for next year (either paying or blowing up the Big East) and add L-ville and somebody else for 2013. Don't mess with Notre Dame.
And not to get off topic, but there really isn't ANY carrot that could entice Missouri now. We want the SEC. We don't want the B1G (despite what you've read, a B1G move would be met with the same reaction as staying in the Big 12). Nobody here is really in a position to judge the "rationality" of the move.
Focus on the teams that want to be here. (I'm not sure if that means WVU or not)
Isn't that pretty much the same deal they have now with the Big10? I don't consider them a member of that league.
The only ways that ND works is either full membership, or BYU for football and ND for everything else. Partial football membership should not be an option. I think the BYU/ND option could work if it is understood that it would lead to full membership for each in the future (2015-2016).
Because they would have their cake and be able to eat it too, primarily. That's the Notre Dame way - we are so elite that we get special treatment. Those days are slowly unraveling on them and the Big12 is positioning itself to catch them should that day come.
They want "independence" but they need a place to park their olympic sports and it's either this or the Catholic League for Wayward Boys and Girls, which they really don't want. I could also see them going for the ACC under certain scenarios as well.
With each passing day and the more information gets out, the more foolish and rash MU looks.

Absolutely...and they'll get what they want. They have a open B1G invite, while the Big East was willing to take them WITHOUT football. Now that the BE might not have football much longer, they're shopping around. They'll get at least as good of a deal as they have now.
I don't think ND to the Big 12 amounts to anything. But it is kind of interesting:
If this deal were going down in the B1G, ND AD Swarbrick would be dealing with Delaney. In the Pac 12, it would be Larry Scott. In the SEC, it would be Slive.
In the Big 12, who's doing the legwork on negotiation with ND? DeLoss Dodds. I know, I know...they're old friends. Good thing you can count on Dodds to act in the best interests of the Big 12...every time.
Shouldn't this be something the conference commissioner is leading?
NO!!!! They make NO sense geographically. You have to drive through IL, IN, and OH just to get there. How much sense does that make?
Agreed. I just don't see WVU as a stability builder. After 5 years of the travel headaches and expenses, they'll be applying to the ACC.
It is farther from Ames to Austin than it is from Ames to Morgantown.
That's not the point.
ISU doesn't travel the distance from Ames to Austin for every single away conference game for every sport. There are conference teams much closer. The trips to Kansas are about 400 miles. The trips to OK are about 600 miles.
The minimum distance that WVU will be traveling for conference games in the Big 12 would be 850 to Ames. The trips to KS will be 900 miles, the trips to OK will be 1000 miles, and the trips to TX will be 1,200 miles. It's ridiculous...
