Using what reasoning? Can he physically not run, or walk? Would the pain be too unbearable? Can it get worse?

I've had a high ankle sprain a neuroma in between my toes. Both were pretty much unbearable to even walk on but when warmed up were just a dull pain I could run through.

My guess is the body would likely let him play through it and cause more damage.

I can honestly say I've never been so disappointed after big Cyclone win. Just weird -- can't even celebrate what was a really good game. Beat *&$^## Roy. He sucks.

Breaks my heart.

Georges is a terrific kid and I am so happy he will be a part of ISU for a couple more years!

If Fred was lying, which he's not, it would be the greatest acting job by an entire team in history. Did you see the players at the after game press conference? You can't learn that sadness in 4 years at acting school.

That being said, I feel better now than I did last night. Hoiberg will have a plan and we'll go get em.

I'm guessing Smart would like the chance to prove you wrong on that one. :jimlad:

If McDermott were still coach, he'd MAKE Niang play.

After some punishment running.

I was yelling at SportsCenter this morning cause they said Georges played the rest of the game. Made it sound like Fred was McDermott or something. Georges said he thought it was a cramp at first and tried to play through it.

My guess is if it were up to Georges, he'd play through it. Love his heart and desire, but it sounds like the right decision to not allow him to play. Gotta think long term with him and not potentially make it worse.

That said, I have no doubt he'll be suited up tomorrow and the biggest cheerleader on the bench.

I took a few karate lessons years ago and broke a bone in my foot. It wasn't very painful, must have been just a stress fracture - but it took 4 months to heal. My .02 worth is if you are running and jumping on a broken foot, it may never heal right.

It would be WWE like **** if Georges somehow did play.

I know there isn't really any one person to be mad at over the injury. The cut on his eye, the broken foot (still playing and scoring after he DID IT!!) I just want to punch someone over it. Someone give me a UNC person to punch please. Dammit this kid is a warrior!!!!!

Win it 4 Niang!
Make that a hawkeye.

Didn't Wes Johnson end up leaving because our coaches let him play through injuries? (at least that's the excuse we heard)

If he were a senior with no pro future ahead, I'd maybe look at this different. But Fred can't take a chance that this gets worse and Georges won't be able to train in the off-season.

Georges isn't soft like Wes. Georges would take the needle to numb the pain and go out there and play if they would let him.
