Navy on ESPNU. Good chance to see possible Texas Bowl opponent.

Interesting note - when a team plays at Hawaii they get to play an extra game. So Navy will likely be 10-3 and likely ranked going into the Texas Bowl.

Why does playing @Hawaii count as a free 13th game? Yeah, it's far away, but I don't get why that translates into an extra game. Doesn't seem any different than any other cross-country nonconference games.

Football in the Northeast in mid-December? Brrr.

Another good thing about Navy is that they play Army on Dec. 12th, a week after the bowl match ups come out so ISU will be able to scout them pretty easily.

This would actually be a disadvantage. Scouting is done by exchange of game tapes so a Dec 12th game has no more or less impact than a game in Oct or Nov. The issue is that Navy would stay in game preparation mode much longer and be more likely to have their timing down for a bowl game.

Good point. 3 more weeks in game mode than us.

Crappy Hawaii team hanging with Navy. 17-17 and Navy just fumbled.

Navy in the Texas Bowl is probably a better match up for ISU. I would personally prefer not to play on New Year's Eve, but I can certainly understand there are many that would prefer Texas over Indy.

they only allowed 1700 yards all season

I tend to look more at average per carry allowed. 4.2 isn't exactly stellar. They run it for 4.8 a carry which is very solid. They pass it at a 9.8 per pass clip, very solid. They give it up at 7.0 per pass and 11.6 per catch. Not great at all. Gaining yards at 19.0 per catch tells me they don't throw it well at all, but when they complete them, it's a big play. They only have 3-4 catches per game, and are penalized a lot. For as often as they throw, they give up a lot of sacks.
