I think Stoops would be a decent fit. It's not all that sexy, but he's had solid head coaching experience in a major conference, he has had some success, and he has Midwest ties. It seems to me he has had his "on the job" experience at Arizona and will be ready to bring it full speed here. It certainly beats the hire that Auburn just made!

It certainly doesn't beat it by much and if by not being sexy you mean the equivalent of comparing Lane Kiffen's wife to Mark Mangino dressed up as a woman then you would be correct.

I just have to ask everyone who thinks this is a bad idea....who do you think we're going to get? This is a coach from a major conference who is going to a bowl game this year. Our other options appear to be coordinators with no head coaching experience, guys who have just been fired, or guys from mid-majors with only a couple of years experience. I just don't see any names that are a lot better who would actually consider the job. Plus, if it's true that he showed interest and sought out the job, all the better.

i have a sinking feeling on this.

Jamie better not stick us with the jerkoff

Palmer... I would rather see JJ leading cheers for 2 hours before every game before I would accept seeing Chizdick Jr. on our sidelines.

Just say no to Drugs..........and Stoops.

Here' the truth. Mac had more success at ISU than Stoops has had at Arizona and we fired him (which I agreed with). If this guys last name was Smith he wouldn't even be mentioned.

Thats a stretch Mac was here 12 yrs. Stoops has been at Arizona 3. Thats real comparable.

I'd rather take my chances on an OC than on a guy that has proven that he's below average as HC.

That's true but Stoops has been at Arizona for 5 years and he is 24-34 and that's in a conference that's week. In Mac's 6th year he went 9-3 and went to a bowl.

I'm just saying that there has to be a lot better options than a guy that has such a bad winning %.

I would rather have a Head Coach that has shown at least some progress at a bad program then an unproven OC from Top 10 school that gets more athletes than a drunk sorority girl.

I honestly don't know Arizona's history when it comes to football but I would assume very few others do either. It is anything but a football tradition - it's a basketball school and likely will be for the near future.

I know they are the only Pac-10 team to never have played in the Rose Bowl.

I am ok with it if this is the hire. Some people on this board are completely unrealistic. Others won't be happy no matter who we hire.

Trust JP.

I think we need to eliminate the distain we have for the name, because he played / coached for Iowa.

Look @ it independantly from that. Like was said previously, who do you really think we are going to get? We need someone with a passion and expectation to WIN, someone that knows and has done it before (which he has). This would be good!
