I have a "Marley". We had to pay 1K to remove a rock from his gut.

Did that stop him from eating rocks....no.

Would I trade him for another more responsible dog.....absolutely not.

That dog reminds me every day that all things are worth savoring & enjoying....including my cookie that he ate off of the counter this morning before I could get a bite.

My wife cried at this movie. That may not seem significant but she has never cried at a movie before, ever, and oftentimes laughs with disdain at those who do.

Well thanks for the responses, but I find it hard to imagine that some little crying movie was better than Valkyrie. That **** was intense.

So I am glad I am not the only one who traded in the man card. I am also glad to hear I am not the only one who tried 5-6 tricks to prevent trading in the man card.

I was pissed however when my wife called me out in front of her dad and other family members. It's kind of a un-written rule that if you see your buddy tear up you say nothing and move on. Apparently my wife doesn't know that one.

Though the ending was predictable, the movie was well done but very sad, none-the-less. We had Daschunds for many years, longhaired and shorthaired. They are notorious for having back problems, and sure enough, we had to put a couple of them down. Very tramatic when you are ten years old.

I think the problem for me is that I would never have kept that dog. I lost 2 dogs growing up and it was hard. But Marley was a horrible dog in so man ways. I couldn't get past the fact that they were stupid to keep him for so long

I thought the same thing reading the book. Have'nt seen the movie yet. I find movies to never be as good as the books.

I saw it and loved it. I can relate to everything in that guys life. Wife read the book and said they left a bit out and took some liberties, but thats just how it goes.

Well thankfully some people are more responsible than you and deal with the problems they have rather than just get rid of it. When you get a dog you are responsible for it. Getting rid of it because it chews up some things is a complete cop-out.

Guess we won't be seeing this. My wife doesn't do well with sad dog story endings. I'm pretty sure if her dog and I got hit by the same car, she would run to the dog. I do think she would notice that I got hit eventually.

my wife would do the same thing! she loves that dog more than anything.

i read the book 2 years ago. awesome book and i cried like a baby at the end. my wife wants to go to the movie today. guess i should be prepared to cry again.

good question. I would cry tears of joy.

Spoiler alert: Jen gets naked, but you don't get to see anything.

I have a VIVID imagination, though....

BTW, I loved the movie. I thought the scene with the ultrasound was easily the toughest part of the movie, though. As a farm kid, I know what happens when dogs get old, and that didn't bother nearly as much as the ultrasound....

I actually picked up the book on Christmas day, from my grandparents. I was about 80-90 pages into it when my sister suggested we go to see a movie that night. Guess which one we went to...yup, "Marley and Me." Definitely a good book. Almost done with it now. The movie left out quite a bit of the thoughts and emotions of the author, John Grogan, and his wife, Jenny, but those are hard to convey on a screen. The book is very, very good, and I would highly recommend anyone that liked the movie go pick up the book. Good book, and not extremely long, either.

Yeah, I've been contemplating whether I want to see this or not. I will confess to loving dogs, even though I've never had one. And I know how this ends, so I'm really torn about seeing it. I'll probably wait for PPV, so I can watch it without having to worry about my man card ;-)
