Bubu really shut down Paige for the most part. Bubu is an amazing defender and a very good player. I find it mind boggling that he has no D1 offers for basketball. I really wish McD would offer him a walk on spot, he is a deffensive stopper who has a killer attitude that this team lacks.

How many points did Paige have last night?

I was really impressed with Marcus Paige. Definitely the second best player on Linn Mar and he is only a freshman. He isn't very big but seems to have quite a wingspan for his size.

I've only seen him play 2 games so i'm certainly not an expert but if the kid can shoot from 3, has a mid-range jumper, handle the ball, drive the lane and is a good assist man (and he does all of these) I could care less if he's 6ft or 6'3". He has plenty of time to put on weight so I don't see that as a huge problem. The main thing is the kid has skills.

And he seemed to play smart. Skills and smarts is a potent combination.

Paige will definately need to work on his shot, but that will probably come with more strength. Right now he seems to wind up and shot put it...

I disagree, he is one of the best defenders i've ever seen. You can't tell me you think he is not better than Cam Lee or haluska.

I will let that comment go b/c I know you go to Ames and therefore you are very biased. Bubu is a good high school player but he is not even close to a D1 player.

Yes I can. I think BuBu Palo is NOT better than Cam Lee or Haluska.

BuBu is a very good high school player who does not have the game for D1 basketball. That isn't a knock. That is just the way it is. Doug McDermott isn't a D1 player either. But IMO has more D1 potential because of his size and skill sets for that size.

Paige looked like he had a pretty decent shot. How many years has it been since ISU has had a pure shooter that could dribble and hit a mid range shot also.

Nice call on Willoughby. We need a guy like that and we don't have one. Hopefully Gillstrap can fit that role.

I'll let that comment go b/c I know you are a great evaluator of D1 talent. Go answer your phone Rivals is calling:wink:

So you honestly think he is a D1 player? Honestly?

There are what 7 D1 players every year that come out of the state of Iowa? Bubu is not a top 20 player in the state. Yes he is good, but has zero chance of playing D1 ball

I think he is the top PG in the state. If he would have played for Lin-Mar they would have beaten Ames. If he would have played for Bettendorf they would have beaten Ames. I will say that I am from Ames and very biased. I saw Paige take over in the Bettendorf game and win that game. Without Bubu, Ames will struggle to stop that next year(if they play) I would like to see how DG and Palo would match-up. Maybe I should take off my rose colored glasses.

You need to take off your rose colored glasses and ask yourself how BuBu would have fared without the likes of Harrison Barnes, Kohler, and McDermott. My guess is that the defense could have just packed everyone around the basket and stopped BuBu cold. He has NO outside shot. That is a bad thing in D1 hoops. Jacy Holloway could at least knock one down once in a while. Linn Mar had Paige and the Bohannons and that was about it. Yet they did have the lead on Ames momentarily in the 4th quarter. My prediction is that BuBu played okay but he would definitely have a lot of problems without HB in the game.
