so can someone tell me why there is so much hype surrounding the big 10? I seen on ESPN they projected 7 teams from the big 10 to go to the tourny...... but the only problem with that is durning exhibition play, Iowa, Ohio St, and Michigan St lost....... TO D-2 PROGRAMS!!!!!!!

You "seen" that wrong. Iowa did not lose to a D-II team.

The Big 11 is over-rated year after year in football, why should basketball be any different?

No, it was worse. They lost a controlled scrimmage to Somewhere Northern State. They could not blame the refs.

Ah yes, I forgot - they lost a controlled scrimmage that didn't keep score. My bad! :notworthy::wink:

Obviously they must of kept score, otherwise, why would there be reports from the other school that they won. Oh but no stats were kept.

In order to win, there must be a score. Unless its a moral victory...

The other school didn't report a score - you can check their website if you'd like.

Weekend Recap: On Saturday, in a closed exhibition game, the Wolves faced the University of Iowa and came away victorious with a 61-57 victory. While no player stats were available, the Wolves received contributions from multiple players and a great defensive effort held the Hawkeye’s under the 60-point plateau.

Hmmmm... Where did this come from... The other thread perhaps with references of where they got it.

No.... No one did keep track of score????

Is that on Northern State's website?

Even if it is, they said previous to the scrimmage that it was a controlled scrimmage and nobody kept score, so...

Just sayin'

And if you got that from the other thread, scroll down and read post #12

Southernhawk keep telling yourself that your team can beat Northern St.

Iowa's athletic program has fallen in the crapper. Wrestling is no longer as good as it used to be. Volleyball dead last in the conf. Men's Bball to be terrible. Football around .500 over the past 3 years (mainly a bunch of mediocre wins against bad teams)

It feels much better to have the ISU programs improving. We are going to be living with a defensive group of Hawks for the next few years.

Iowa beat ISU in wrestling last year.

ISU was below .500 in bball and football last year.

ISU is below .500 in football this year

What was it that you were saying again?

And, they didn't PLAY Northern State. They scrimmaged. I am not saying Iowa will be good - quite the contrary, but to get all giddy over a loss that didn't happen, is kind of funny.

I was saying it is nice to be on the rise instead of in a tailspin into the bottom of the big 10 and the NCAA for most major sports.

I cant wait to watch Looby and Gorney stumble all over the court while Freeman runs up and down the court firing horrible no look passes into the hawks nest.

At least when ISU sucks we can admit it:)

If i were Freeman(I have a better looking shot than he does), i would want to med. redshirt the whole year too. Its gonna be ugly this year, until they get to the Big 10 conference games and win against other overrated teams.

The Squawkeyes playing 6 year old soccer rules......sounds about right.

Same old, same old.

Aright, you guys got me. I fell for the 'ole bait. Obviously that's what you're doing. I mean, you guys seriously can't be ignoring anything/everything that I've said and just repeating the same thing over and over again can you?

Let me re-address everything you guys have tried to say, and leave it at that.

Iowa will be bad this year.

They did not lose to a D2 opponent - it was a controlled scrimmage. Nothing more, nothing less.

Now, obviously, any post about the subject of Iowa losing to a D2 opponent has to be a "baiting" post, or else you have absolutely no knowledge of what you are talking about, and are just doing the "in" thing and making fun of something that didn't actually happen - which is kind of funny in its own way.

Iowa is just lucky they do not have Northern State on their schedule. It saved the Little Ten from further embrrassment. It did sound like a real defensive struggle. They must play good D. in Iowa City. Not saying they played poorly. Jut saying they might want to hustle a little more.
