Just turned it on. When did he announce and did he say why?
At 7:45 he came back off the break saying he’d been thinking about something since November and that he is leaving the show. Didn’t give a real reason, Sean stuttered for a moment clearly not aware of the decision.

Or since he and Sean have been at KXNO for nearly all of Sean's career there it still tough to hear it said out loud over the air. To a point, I think Travis has been a little bit of a father figure for Sean at the station.

I was listening at the time and was surprised, especially since he did not tell Sean beforehand. I don't blame him for going out on his own terms, I think the writing is on the wall for local programming at KXNO and it will be interesting if they find someone to pair with Sean or just move him back to the afternoons and kill the morning show altogether now. I kinda figure that iHeart is hoping the hosts just leave on their own now so they don't have to lay them off.

Travis will be fine, the radio show is really more of a hobby to him as he has a regular job during the day. Guessing between that, all the travel he does, and his family not doing radio probably would free him up to focus on those things more. Would not be shocked if he winds up as an occasional guest on Iowa Everywhere but it would suprise me if he is part of a regular show or podcast given his other commitments.

The only reason I keep KXNO as a shortkey on my car radio is for Miller and Condon anymore. Otherwise, it's CF and IE.

Travis will tell you he's a big Hawk fan, but similarly to Ross, his actual knowledge of Iowa Hawkeye athletics is pretty minimal.
I actually decided to email him one day because he kept putting out incorrect information over the air about Iowa that he claimed to be such a huge fan of. He got all triggered and read my email over the air and said where I worked at the time.

This was probably around 2009 or 2010.

Not surprised by any of this given my own experience with Travis.

In all fairness when you email someone like that you put yourself out there and he has a platform to call you out on it. Have seen Keith and Andy do it from time to time too on SoundOff or social media. Just because you email a public figure or post something on their social media does not make you immune to them making it publi so you always take that risk when you do that. It would be like if you sent me a nasty PM here and I chose to copy and paste it in a thread and call you out publicly for what you said to me. I'm not saying that is classly or the right way to handle it but there are some people if you catch them in a bad mood on the wrong day they may choose to go the public shaming route to respond.

Still doesn't come close to some of the crap Marty Tirrell did back in the days. I remember listening to him berate some guy that called in and call Marty out on air for screwing him over on some trip to the Masters that he went on with Marty where he screwed him over and it was pretty heated and ugly that even Ken sounded nervous.

Yeah, I was completely prepared for the consequences once i hit send. It probably wasn't one of the smartest things I've ever done, especially using my work email, but he was constantly pumping out incorrect information. I worked with a couple guys that were huge Hawk fans at the time and we'd all listen at work every morning and comment on how bad they were.

I think i just asked them something along the lines of "do you guys every do any homework for the show". I think it's possible I mentioned something about them being bad at their jobs also.

A few other people on my floor just happened to be listening also that morning and thought it was hilarious.
