Add me to the list of XM listeners.

The only local radio I listen to is the post game show on my way home from Ames.

Fox News on the way to work and various music stations on the way home. Monkey and Miller could have been gone for 3 months and I would never know.

Do you hear that advertisers?? And I am in your target demographic

DITTO: XM, Postgame shows , & Weather on the car radio , CD's Who are Marty & Miller?

So, you are willing to take swings at the ISU programs and their fans, but want everything to be cool the other times? People don't forget things that easily and even if they did, there will always be that memory in the back of their mind.

You came out strong on the rape case but rarely take any jabs at the Iowa programs or fans. You can't because you make your living off them and if U of I were to limit your access or if you were to belittle Iowa fans they may stop buying subscriptions...

Whoa! Let's not get too revisionist in our history here. As far as I remember, Jon sat on the story for quite a while, and when he did speak on it, he was pretty selective in his outrage. I don't remember him being very hard on kf (HPSE) at all. Let's not forget that he is the one that brought those guys to campus, and that if I remember correctly he moved players either into, or back into, the dorm room where the alleged assault took place. This was before any law enforcement agency of any sort could examine it and collect any evidence. kf should still be getting skewered for this.

As a person, Jon is an okay sort. I think the Hawk fans he hangs out with are the good sort. I know if he is like his chiropractor, then he is fun to tailgate with, and not too prone to annoy you even after a victory.

I think we get a little hard on Jon at times. Like it or not, drinking the Hawk kool-aid gets him paid. I am not going to blame anybody for making an honest buck in this economy. He has to throw the mouth-breathers that constitute a majority of the Hawkeye fanbase a bone every now and then, in order to stay in their good graces. Sadly, it seems that bone is usually in the form of knocking ISU and/or Cyclone fans, oh well.

I do give Jon props for usually showing up and responding to the questions and insults thrown his way here. It happens a lot and he takes the ribbing rather well. I wonder if he worked in the dunk tank growing up?

I anxiously await the smooth and sonorous stylings of your pro-Clone show.

Paul Clark is on my program every week on Wednesday's at 3:05, for a half hour. And I typically will try to set up the next segment for ISU related topics, for callers. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

You are right in your first statement, but if he seen something not right in a Cyclone program, he did not pull many punches then.

Unlike the whole rape scandal and the blind black and gold goggles you wore on your show. I am also pretty sure Deace wouldn't have some social misfit like wolfgang coming out to help out his show.

Guess where Wolfgang got his start?

As did Jon Miller as far as on the radio.

And also Jonathon ********.

Of course, I have a made a career out of lying about trivial things like this to anonymous heroes such as yourself.

You do know that I publish my own website, I will give you that benefit of the doubt. And once again, you overestimate your significance.

I spend about 45 minutes a day on this site, I would wager. That is probably too high, actually.

Whereas I spend at least 6 or 7 hours a day on matters related to my own website.

Now tonight, I have my tub of popcorn popped and am enjoying some of the drama queens that are out playing. So I might spend 60 minutes here, whereas yesterday, I might have been here for 5 minutes.

Jonny, Jonny, Jonny......do you need a break? I think you're getting a little upset. "Anonymous hero"? Did you read that somewhere and decide to re-use it? "Overestimate my significance"? Hate to burst your big celebrity bubble, but I don't judge my significance based on you. You get paid to be a hawk homer. That's you. That's it, right?

Whoa! Let's not get too revisionist in our history here. As far as I remember, Jon sat on the story for quite a while, JDM: As I always do with hard news (hard as a word meaning, straight news stories, not opinions), I either get someone to come on the record and report it, or if that is not possible, I wait until someone has gone on the record, and then talk about it. Most people I know in the media had a very good idea of what the mother finally alleged in her letter. But no one was going to move on anything until she, the alleged victim or the alleged victim's father agreed to go on the record. Anything outside of that, and you were probably going to lose your job and risk a lassuit.)and when he did speak on it, he was pretty selective in his outrage. JDM: I said that while i didn't think Kirk moved those players back into the dorm room out of malice or in an attempt to cover anything up, that it probably was an unwise decision. That was just one of the opinions I had.

I do give Jon props for usually showing up and responding to the questions and insults thrown his way here. It happens a lot and he takes the ribbing rather well. I wonder if he worked in the dunk tank growing up? JDM: No, just 10 years of scar tissue from having my own message boards. If you think its all wine and roses every day, even among your own flock, you would be wrong on that front.

JoeFrog - i tried being understanding about 2 pages ago but then it looked like people were having fun taking pot shots, so I went with it. I'm weak, what can I say.

Here is what I've gathered. Jon is a dork, but will roll with the punches. He loves the hawks and even better for him he makes money off the hawks and their fans....this will always limit how "kind" he or his show can be to the clones.

That's as close as you've ever come to thanking CF for anything.

Oh, I don't know about that. I have probably mentioned CF on my show a hundred or so times since I have been on the air. But then again, since the ratings that started this post lead some to suggest that no one listens to KXNO, that probably isn't much of a help.

Methinks thou protests too much! You have to admit you get more of a spirited conversation over here than you get at your own site with those mouth-breathers!

I don't have much time for the dosry's of the world. Or rather, that is something I am going to spend less time on from now on. He's the first on my ignore list, and there are a few more that I will get around to.

I enjoy talking ISU athletics on this site, I honestly am not a big fan of these little dramatic outbursts from some that are just Hawk haters to the point that anything that has Hawk on it, they are gonna go epileptic. In the end, I may not have many posts to read from all of the ingored users I will be building up.

Honestly.... They are just as bad as the ones on your site - just haters with a different target. It's the internet after all.

The only thing saving Cotlar is that he gets a weekly interview with an asst coach and Eric Heft once a week.

Their programming has drastically gone down hill. I don't know if its the lack of competition but the local shows they have are really sub par.

Cotlar knows very little about sports and will not take a side on anything.

Jon Miller's show is boring.

Marty and Miller's show is nothing more than shock jock radio.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if people are given another sports alternative, even if it is a national show, will tune into that over the stuff on KXNO.

You have nailed it. Cotlar is just not good. Miller is a hawk hack and a phony when it comes to interest in ISU, UNI and Drake. I turn the channel. Marty and Miller are as you say, shock jock radio. Nothing could be more obvious when Marty recently proclaimed that iowa shoud have ended the season as a top 10 fb team. Purely shock radio. i.e. BS.

I happen to love Jon's plugs for Cyclone Fanatic. It shows that everyone, including Hawks, want to be Cyclone Fanatics.

You nailed it right there. While ISU may serve as a nice side dish in Jon's world, Iowa remains the real meat and potatoes. I think ISU is cole slaw to Jon, UNI is the cookie, and Drake is the wet-nap to clean things up, sometimes you remember it, a lot of times you don't really need it and forget you even have it.

As far as a revenue stream, I would venture to guess that Iowa would probably mean a rather large amount to Jon, with the other programs not even being close. Of course he is going to favor the Hawks, and he is biased. We all are.

I have no doubt that if Jon starts hitting Iowa hard, or any coach or administrator for that matter, his access will be limited. His living depends on insider info and access. Look at how much attention is already paid to Iowa athletics. The Register, the Gazette, and I am sure many other papers I don't pay attention to are little more than mouthpieces and cheerleaders for Iowa athletics. For Jon to actually survive and be relevant, he has to maintain a good relationship with people in Iowa City. If he has to sacrifice a little fairness and integrity to do so, well, who doesn't make certain sacrifices in their jobs?

Many people lose sight of the fact that we are just fans of ISU athletics, as well as national sports, while Jon is a website manager and radio personality. It is hard to admit, but he is the smart one here. He is getting paid. We are just peeing in the wind.

I started this post and I don't think I ever mentioned that no one listens to KXNO. I was just pointing out that it looks like the ratings for KXNO have gone down from a year to year basis. Is this not true?

I also didn't say anything about your show. I think your show is probably the best one out of the 3. In the last few years I probably have went from listening to Deace on KXNO around 4 hours a week to listening for about an hour and that's in your time slot. The one exception to this was during the coaching hire. I wanted to hear M&M make fools of themselves and they delivered. I will say that Jon did a good job on the job change talk.
