Classes at the Kirkwood Main Campus in Cedar Rapids are canceled immediately due to a domestic incident and will remain closed throughout the evening hours. This does not affect non class activities. More info to follow as available.

My sister just got this text wonder what happened or is happening.

Looks like KCRG has a much info as you do: "Domestic Incident" at Kirkwood Prompts Campus Alert | KCRG-TV9 | Cedar Rapids, Iowa News, Sports, and Weather | Local News

I wonder what happened. With the type of people that go there the possibilities are endless.

What does that mean? Single mothers who can't fit the traditional college experience into her life? Someone who can't afford the traditional college experience? Those "type" of people? Your comment comes off a bit elitist and judgmental...

Agreed. My ex-girlfriend went there to play basketball. She's still the greatest person I know, and now plays softball at ISU. Are there some morons who go to school at Kirkwood? Sure. There's plenty of morons I've seen at Iowa and ISU, too. Every school's got its share of people who make you wonder why they're even allowed into college.

I will admit that I was a bit a bit vague. I did not mean to generalize the students that actually go to Kirkwood to get an education. I was talking about the ones that go one semester and flunk out because they are drinking the entire time and do not go to class. I have countless stories of people I knew that went there for college who partied too hard and either flunked out or had only one semester worth of credits after 2 years. I do know people that went for two years and tranferred to a state school and still managed to graduate in four years.

Fair enough...but the stories of flunking out and partying too hard occur at pretty much all types of educational institutions.

Went to Kirkwood for 2 years before transferring to ISU, 70% of students probably weren't going to go in the first place.
Most of them were probably hanging out in the Cyber Cafe at Iowa Hall...playing World of Warcraft and watching the latest installment of pokemon, or figuring out an online version of dungeons and dragons.
