Grant Mahoney and Jeff Woody react to Tyrese Haliburton’s injury and an odd AI story before welcoming FOX’s Rob Stone to discuss bringing Big Noon Kickoff to Iowa State, Farm-o’-geddon, and more from Rob’s career in the booth. Presented by Kelderman Manufacturing.

I’d prefer an ex football player just because when Jeff was paired with Stansbury he would spend so much time trying to put the football concepts into an analogy or metaphor that Stansbury would understand. The problem is Jeff is terrible at doing that, the mixed metaphors were constant. Having Grant have a similar background (even if he was a specialist) eliminated that and cleaned up the podcast.

I know what you mean, Woody is hard to listen to when he starts down the metaphor path and beats that horse dead for 10 mins of air time. Possibly someone told him to tone down the metaphors or at least the length there of.

Man, I've really enjoyed Kickin' It as it was great to hear the players perspective and insights from games and having gone through it all in Ames. Maybe Blyth who is local could step in?

Also no one mentioned that Woody might in in Ireland covering the game for ESPN?

I told Grant he's always welcome with us when he has more time. I doubt this is the last we've heard from him.

Plan now is to insert Jake in with Jeff and we go from there. We will seek out former players too. I like having them be a part of CF. Adds depth to our network.
The former player shows have been awesome, just seems clear now that trying to do a weekly show on top of working, parenting, etc isn’t that sustainable long term for people with non-journalistic careers.

Meyer to Blythe, Kickin’ It, and Scotty on Corner 3 have all been really enjoyable.

Grant is so wonderfully sassy and quick witted. I have thoroughly enjoyed hearing from a thoughtful kicker . . . with an attitude!

Do we need a separate thread to talk about how awesome Rob Stone is? He is our kind of broadcaster! Hope he makes it to the RV Village on Friday night!

Jeffs "I'll show you a hard drive" comment had me laughing for a good 5 miles on my drive to work this morning

Man that's a bummer. Kicking it was one of my favorite podcasts. Loved the insight from them, they were hilarious together and they got some really fantastic off-season interviews. I always looked forward to them and they made the off-season more bearable.
