He doesn't have a great arm. He's not a running threat.

Agree Kyle can't run. At least well enough to be a threat.
But he does have a good, accurate arm. The bomb to Hakeem in the bowl was a thing of beauty.
I hope Kyle comes back. I hope he starts. If he does, I know he'll win.

Lol, you must not have seen some of back handed completmets from some posters. “He is limited, he makes our offense one dimensional, running game suffers because of him, he won some big games but thanks to our defense, he got bailed out by our outstanding receivers, Lazard saved him”. All this despite he had one of the best season ISU QB ever had. Set highest completion percentage in a season, better yard per pass than Park, very high QB rating, 15 to 3 TD/interception ratio, etc. Oh, I get it. He was extremely lucky (bad passes not intercepted or caught by receivers although it happens to every QB) and able to do all these because of our outstanding receivers. To some ISU fans, back up QB is always better than starting QB.

Horse pooooop. Do you NOT think he's limited? Do you NOT think Lazard saved him few times? Do you NOT think he threw some ducks? Do you NOT think Lazard dropped some passes? Lanning missed some tackles? The OL missed blocks, the DBs missed assignments, the coaches made bad play calls, the students didn't how up, the Neil Diamond song was off key?

This is a team game and when things are clicking the team is able to compensate to the shortcomings of EACH AND EVERY PLAYER BECAUSE EACH AND EVERY PLAYER HAS SHORTCOMINGS.

Kyle can't run fast enough to slide. He's not a mobile QB. Tell me what I just said because I THINK what you THINK I'm saying is Kyle sucks.

Kyle - as part of the team - gave us an amazing season. But if you think Kyle is the only answer and the staff thinks nobody will be better than kyle and the offense we saw last year was exactly the offense this staff wanted to see you have some of that horse poooop noted above lodged between you ears.

Find one poster saying they don't want Kyle back - not some "back handed complement" crap. Hell find 2 posters saying that. It doesn't matter - the staff will find the best players and put them in the best situations and create the best schemes for us to win. If it's with Kyle and we're winning then we're winning. If Zeb beats him out and Kyle is the #2 and we're winning it still means we're winning.

This program and this staff is about growth and development. if you DON'T think there should be a QB competition if Kyle is granted another year, you're probably a guy who pines away for your high school days is is frightened of change.

You're a solution in search of a problem. You're responding to a statement nobody made. Maybe you're using a little too much of your screen name.

I hope after the QB competition this team is ready for taking the next step. It's fun to root for players, but in the end I'm rooting for Iowa State.

Me saying he doesn't have great arm, and he's slow, are not jabs, everyone knows this. I've said that I want him back, and of course I'm happy with the season he had. That doesn't mean I'm going to say he absolutely has to start next season.

I would argue that if Noland does beat him out this off season, then that's a good thing for Iowa St. That means the coaches see that Zeb is better than a guy that got some big wins the year before. If Kempt wins out, then nothing wrong with that. We should know what we'll have with him starting.

There are only a few posters who lack reading comprehension. You and I are responding to 1 of them.

Did anyone else notice that some of Noland's passes fluttered against Baylor? He also completed only 50% of his passes against Baylor which has a pathetic pass defense (ranked 114th in the nation). And ISU scored only 23 points against Baylor.

Not saying this to bash Noland, but to show that he might not be ready to be the starter. I do think Noland has a bright future. He is similar to Park in terms of skill set, but he seems to be much more of a competitor.

But if you asked me to choose between Noland and Kempt, I would choose Kempt without blinking. Whatever Kempt lacks in strength or speed, he more than makes up for with his accuracy and decision making. He puts the ball in the perfect spot on almost every throw. When people say that Lazard bailed out Kempt against Memphis, they are missing the mark. Lazard made good adjustments on balls that were thrown in an area where only Lazard could catch the ball. They weren't in danger of being intercepted, and neither was the pass that Lazard caught off Murdock's finger tips. Yes some of Kempt's passes into the wind fluttered but that happens in the NFL too. I saw plenty of ducks flying in the Falcons - Eagles game yesterday.

Why don't you want Zeb back? Why don't you want him on the team? Is it because his current self will never become anything other than a loose memory or his prior performances?

Oh wait - we're making up posters not wanted Kyle back. I guess we should start a thread making up posters not wanting Zeb back to give him the proper respect. :)

Touche. I think the excitement going into August if we have them both back would be unmatched.

I want Kempt back but it will only add to the confusion of however the NCAA decides whatever it is they do.

I love Kempt. And I get that he had different coaches at every school he went to. But he also chose to go to three different schools.

Since Nebraska got away with it, I feel like they have to give it to Kempt. But at the same time, what a ******** reason, in my mind, for a player to get an extra year.

Everyone should want him back. I still think Zeb might beat Kyle out this spring and summer, but it's obviously best for the team's success to have them both.

If he isn't granted another year, we'll have Zeb, and if he goes down, then we're screwed. Is that what everyone wants?
