Keeping rabbits out of my yard!

As the snow melts, I'm finding thousands of little presents left behind rabbits that unfortuntately my dog thinks are treats. I'm sick of the rabbits and am wondering a way to keep them out of my yard. I've heard everything from nothing will work to sprinkling black pepper all over to even getting a repellent plug in unit.

Anyone else had this problem and found a solution that works but doesn't hurt pets or the environment?

My dog eats rabbit turds too. I don't know what the deal is? It grosses me out. As far as keeping rabbits away, I think it's pretty hard unless you want to spread the repellent all over your yard. I know they sell pre-made chemicals for gardens, I dunno about entire lawns though.

My dog isn't allowed to chase them because our backyard isn't enclosed yet.

I'm thinking of going to Earl May or target and seeing what they have.

A few years back i found some spray for the bushes to keep the rabbits away - pretty sure it was some type of deer urine. Cons are that it can wash off, so needs to be applied often. The rabbits might be attracted to bushes for food and/or shelter - so keeping them out of the bushes might convince them to move on.

These work really well for rodents in my yard. Within the first week, I caught and killed 10+ squirrels. (Obviously I put squirrel bait in it, not rabbit, but I'm sure it works just as well)

I barely have any bushes. Mostly grass and a couple tress. It's a fairly new lot. Less than 10 years old.

If hunting within city limits wasn't against city code, I would have bought a pellet gun at Walmart last year. And if I had bought a pellet gun, I am sure I would have eliminated 17 rabbits in a four month period. I am assuming that this would have solved the problem...if it wasn't illegal.
:jimlad:

It isn't hunting if you dont eat it...

I've always found a .22 works the best. Of course even that only slows them down.

On the plus side, rabbit tastes good!
