Refs are going to miss calls or call them wrong sometimes. The key is to be able to play through that. ISU couldn't get a stop when it mattered and they flat out stunk it up in OT. So regardless of the bad calls ISU could have won it but didn't make the plays they needed to which was a common theme in the close games. Even with the bad call against OSU they had chances to win that game and didnt make a play.

Makes no sense talking about the KU game at Hilton. ISU did make the clutch plays when it mattered, Niang was standing there and got plowed and KU choked on the final shot that was an easy chip shot after the gift no call. No team can overcome two horrific calls in the last five seconds of a close game and win. OT doesn't matter, ISU outplayed them in regulation and the game was stolen by two obvious errors. It's not "tough guy" to deny when a screw job happens, it's some sort of coping denial.

When did ISU win a game in the fashion KU won at Hilton last year with two blown calls within seconds at the end of a game winning it for us? (on the road no less) When did ISU get a blown call as horrific as scoring a three during a dead ball? If you don't think KU gets better calls than the rest of the league you're living in some serious and major denial. Life would probably be easier thinking that way but you can't just ignore that it happens.
Kansas only gets "better" calls than the rest of the league because everything Kansas does is more public than any other Big 12 school because of their status as a top-tier school. Remember us ripping off Rodney McGruder's arms at the buzzer a year or two ago? Is there a fix against Kansas State since they got screwed by that call and screwed last year by the stripes against Kansas?

Two plays have never and will never make a game. Was the timing awful? Absolutely. Were there other errors which played to our favor? Absolutely. Did we have errors count against us? Absolutely. Is there some sort of conspiracy that makes sure certain things happen? No and to pretend there is is both childish and pathetic. Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, etc. has never lost a basketball game fair...it's always the ref's faults.

I think a handful of Big 12 basketball games, all against KU, are somehow not officiated fairly...and you go off the deep end that every loss is the ref's fault. LOL

If you think ISU/KSU a couple years ago was the same level blown officiating as KU at Hilton this year or the refs counting a 3 during a dead ball...at least I know to just end the conversation with you.

And for the record, I've watched fishy games in several sports that later did turn out to be fixed. If someone thinks a handful of games in their entire life of decades of watching sports are fixed, they're 100x more likely to be correct than you are in thinking that nothing is ever intentionally blown, thrown or fixed and it's all just luck that evens out.

How about the Creighton game a few years ago.

Actually, I think even this proves your point. We were the team that "should" win that game. Thus, we benefited from the calls at the end of the game.

What happened in that game as bad? Did ISU score during warmups or halftime which is equivalent to what KU did? Was Drake ahead in their own arena and then ISU got two blown calls in the final four seconds that changed the outcome of the game?

To be completely honest I think I listened to that game online radio and never watched it. And I don't care how it happens, you seem to agree with me that KU gets better calls than the rest of the league, whether it's some subtle mental phenomenon or outright crooked doesn't matter. End result this team you say "should win" gets better and different calls than the rest.

Niang made a clutch play But before that KU was scoring on every possession. They weren't getting stops. They put themselves in that position to make it a close game. I also remember them giving up some offensive rebounds to KU late.

In fairness, that would have been called correctly if instant replay was available. Had the game been in Hilton or CenturyLink Center it would have been correctly ruled.

But it was a call that refs missed an ISU won because if it.

Was there a horrible no call foul right before a bogus buzzer beater? We're talking two bad calls in the final four seconds or a dead ball 3 pointer counting. A fraction of a second on the clock is not within a million miles of those two F ups in terms of blowing the call.

There was 1 bad call in the last four seconds of the KU/ISU game. No call intially on the drive was perfectly acceptable...the foul on Niang was an atrocious call.

My perception and experience is that once in a while things just aren't fair or on the level. Yours is that it's always just random chance.

You live your way I'll live mine, I have yet to see KU get the screws put on them to the level of having a dead ball three scored on them or multiple bad calls in the final seconds at Phog Allen. Maybe you have and you're withholding it for some reason.

How many games are close at KU? Not many. OSU won there last year. Why didn't the refs help KU out? It's the conspiracy stuff that is just ridiculous. Refs don't play defense. They don't get rebounds or make shots or free throws. Didn't ISU miss a free throw late?

There doesn't need to be some huge conspiracy to result in KU getting better calls than other Big 12 teams over the years. Frankly I'd guess anyone who doesn't see it is in denial in order to cope or only been watching for a year or two because it's reeeeeeeeeeeeally obvious.

Not to mention the "ridiculous" thing you mention has been documented in the NBA, Pac 12 hoops, and top division european soccer just recently. It's not a coincidence that ISU's worst basketball calls like a dead ball three or two horrible calls in the final four seconds or a phantom foul on a player ten feet away from the play are usually against KU. You think it's pure coincidence, we just won't agree on it. It's not embarrassing or conspiratorial to notice ISU doesn't get calls against KU, it's called being a realist.

Kansas can get the benefit of the doubt on calls without there being some conspiracy. Like others have said, refs are human too and have their own expectations of how a game will turn out and I'm sure it's very easy to make calls to fit that expectation. Just one of many examples of how a team can gain an officiating advantage without the refs huddling up with 30 seconds left and saying "oh ****! we gotta make kansas win!" I'll also add that Bill Self is a master at working refs and gets the benefit of a lot of calls because of that too.

So Iowa State never gets bad calls made against other teams? You remember the ones against Kansas the best because it's the biggest game of the year and normally the game we have a razor thin margin for error.

And Iowa State has had a fair share of calls against KU. Withey got whistled incorrectly at least twice for fouls in this year's game.

Every single game calls are missed. To suggest the conference is telling officials "Make sure Kansas wins!" is ridiculous.

I have a buddy who is a huge KU fan and openly admits we got hosed. Loves the result, but admits it was bs.
