The suites and club section didn't take out that much seating. Anyway, this is from cyclones.com.

As you can see, adding the permanent end zone bleachers added even more seats to the old configuration. We packed in about 2,300 more fans than previously. I would estimate it even with the seats and club section out at about 46,000 without hillsides.

Wrong.

Before the renovation, capacity was 55,000 including the hillsides, which estimated 2500 per hillside, for a total of 10,000 additional seats. Capacity not including hillsides was 45,000 before renovation. Renovation cost the stadium 2500 seats. Simple mathematics - 45,000 - 2,500 equals 42,500, not 46,000

Agree with the OP completely. We have to expand/renovate soon and increase capacity to around 60-65K.

And fyi, if we packed people in like kinnick, we'd fit 70K right now. Them thinking that place is a 'big' stadium is a joke.

Which you and I know doesn't really matter. The vast majority of stadiums around the country aren't full for every game anyway. If the AD can add enough seats to get us to 60,000 and find a way to pay for it, then it doesn't really matter if we fill it up.

The Clemson model (or similar) seems to be the best option to me. Lower bowl with some kind of premium seating at the top of that (suites, club section, box seats, etc.). Gets rid of the hillsides, provides revenue-generating seating, which helps to pay for the project.

I like this idea. Someone mentioned a "Johnny's" type place, we could build that into the middle of the club level to look out straight onto the scoreboard. I personally would go to "the club" to buy a brew or two (not at $10 though:smile:)

You probably wouldn't most stadiums/event centers I have seen have been from $12-15/Drink so save up

Imo, the bottom bowl should be completed first. This would put seat capacity somewhere in the 50,000-52,000 range, rough guess. It should be built with the ability to add another deck or "Clemson style" area in the future. It's just not realistic to add another 8-10k seats at this point.

Look at the rendering above, the entire stadium dynamic changes. It would be an unbelievable positive and arguably the most valuable athletics investment since Hilton was built.

Prediction: If the team gets us to a bowl game (7-5) and avg attendance is in the high 40's, I think this project comes to fruition within 2 years.

I would argue that the SEZ project has very little to do with being able to fill any increase in seating, and a whole lot to do with paying for said project. Having said that, IMO the priorites for this project should be:

1) Some sort of premium seating that drives additional revenue
2) Something that looks cool/stands out from tradional stadium design
3) Adds capacity to the stadium beyond current SRO numbers

since it got deleted, and i put some or into it.

Couple things:

1. That is the coolest draw-up of what JTS could be I've ever seen. That would be a dream come true. Compare that to the one level enlcosed version and it's night and day. The version without the 'clemson' second deck just look lame. I pray to god JP has this in mind.

2. Am I the only one that has to always check out the smokin hot blonde in the 'hit it hard' shirt in the lower left of this pic?

I agree with your first point. I definitely like this rendering better than anything else I've seen. Cheap lower level endzone seats, with a HUGE club/suite section for the second deck. A big time club and restaurant overlooking JTS, with the option of outside seating available, as well. Maybe if GoCyclones78 gets bored, he can do some more renderings with different views... ;)

About your second point, I'd be cautious and hold judgment until you can see the front side, too.

I like everybody's ideas. Any version of the bowled in end-zone makes JTrice look sweet! Since I don't have much money to fork over for it I will wait patiently for this to happen. In JP I trust... Until then I am going to enjoy this wicked awesome score board. Everyday I drive by it I get all giddy inside. Cannot wait to see it turned on!

And with a body like hers, who cares what the front looks like. Beauty is only a light switch away at this point.

As it sounds like we haven't sold out the suites we have yet, I'm not sure that there is much of a case for more of those in the south end zone, but club seats may be just the ticket. It seems to me like there is a major leap to get into our current club section as far as price. As of now, club seats require a $5k donation, then $1500 per seat with a three year commitment required.

In getting tickets for our game at CU last year, I came across their seating chart and noticed that they had club seating at about 5 different price points, ranging from around $750 per seat up to the $2k area, donation included.

I am nowhere near the point of paying up for club seats as they exist at ISU today, but something in the south end zone in the 750-1500 range would actually be something I would consider. And being that these seats certainly aren't as good as the current club location, it would make sense to price them lower as well. This could serve a whole new market of fans that our premium seating today just doesn't reach, but it could also provide a bigger financial boost to help pay for the project as opposed to just straight up endzone seats that we turn around and sell at a discount.

You guys want something interesting. FP&M use to have blueprints on their projects website showing the south end zone. Those have now been removed. Last time this happened there was a change in the plans, now I wonder if that is happening again. I think I still have those PDFs of the plans on my computer at home, but they are MIA on the website. They had been there for a long time, someone went out of there way to remove them.

+1

This is the perfect way to look at it. Instead of spending big bucks to strictly add a bunch of less than stellar (and lower price range) end zone seats we could also add quite a few more economically priced club seats. That is where the money is. Give fans a bridge to the higher dollar club seats and eventually the suites. This is a great way to get your hooks into someone so they eventually move up to the more expensive club seats. Baby steps...

Can't wait for something to happen with the south endzone but I would like to see the upper deck match the two side decks. I think it would look better than a house you can tell that has been added on to 3 different times. Anything would be an improvement, get rid of the hills.

bowling in the South end (1 deck) would just be replacing the bleachers and the hillsides....and look 10,000 times better.

Whoa, that IS interesting. Do you know anyone at FP&M that you could ask about the removal?

Otherwise, I'm just going to start wildly speculating. Pirate gold is buried under JTS, and only the plans for the stadium expansion show the exact location where it's buried!
