Yeah for a State our population size we probably should only have 1 BCS football school. Just like Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota, etc. If you put both ISU & Iowa's resources (donations, facilities, fan support, etc.) together would be a hell of an Athletic Department.
Fantastic idea, but isn't there an NCAA rule prohibiting general public beer sales during events held on campus?
Creighton basketball serves alcohol. The Farmageddon game in KC sold alcohol as well.
Arrowhead is certainly not on any NCAA college campus. I'm not sure if Creighton's arena is 'on campus' or not. The rule only applies to on campus NCAA events. I just remember the hubub about this back in the 90s when the rule became official. However, I don't know if it is still the case or not.
And both of these facilities are not on campus grounds either... Creighton plays at the Omaha Qwest Center.
The only limitations are during NCAA championship events.
31.1.15 Availability of Alcoholic Beverages.
Alcoholic beverages shall not be sold or otherwise made available for public consumption at any championship event sponsored by or administered by the Association, nor shall any such beverages be brought to the site during the championship (during the period from the time access to the site is available to spectators until all patrons have left the facility or area used for competition).

Don't they already allow booze in the suites? In fact, don't they furnish the booze, along with a gameday buffet, as part of the annual cost of renting one of the suites. I know some schools do.
But I see what you're saying about the Club Section.
And I agree that they should think big on the expansion. All these shrinking violets who cringe at the thought of a 70,000 to 75,000 seat stadium at ISU need to get out of their raccoon coats and step out of the 1950s into the modern world. Even a 75,000 seat stadium would be small now days compared to other BCS schools. If we want to be big time, we have to quit thinking small potatoes.
I agree that they need to think big, but i don't know that that necessarily means more seats. I think it means think outside the box. What could we do that would make us unique? Party decks? Restaurant? Adult lounge? Etc etc.
To me, I don't see the need to go bigger than 60k with this expansion. Let's add a few seats, and do something different that brings people in to fill all those seats.
Then, in the future, if we start selling out, do something else to add more seats. We still have the North Endzone, or even adding a 3rd deck on the east side.

What difference does that make? The point is if you have a 70,000 seat stadium, you can sell 70,000 tickets. If you have a 50,000 seat stadium, you can only sell 50,000 tickets. Everyone knows we won't sell out every game, but we are turning away money by not having a bigger stadium for those games where we COULD sell 70,000 tickets (Iowa, UNI, Texas and maybe some others in a year where we have a good team).
If we only had two games a year where we could sell 70,000 tickets, but only have 50,000 seats, at $50 a seat, that's $2 million a year we're turning down because we don't have enough seats. Can we afford to turn away $2 million a year ($1 million if you figure a 60,000 seat capacity)? And that's only for TWO games.
Besides, I'm of the opinion, which is supported by the history of the program, that if we build it, the fans will come. Every stadium expansion in ISU history has been followed by a corresponding increase in ticket sales.
How many people don't come right now because they think it's sold out because it's such a small stadium or don't come because they think it will be too crowded?

Man has apparently triumphed over 'immovable' object, as the North Goal Posts are not where they should be. Was this planned, or a construction accident? The turf around the goal post area doesn't look damaged at all.

The workers celebrated the truss lift by dismantling the posts and throwing them in Lake Laverne.
Well, it certainly does show the Iowa State fans that it is technically possible...
It's always been possible. Just really tough to smuggle the proper equipment into a game on one's person.
