If you think we could get to the NCAA tournament with our current roster you'd be in for a rude awakening. The good news is that the roster will be upgraded and it will be interesting to see by how much.
Agree.

If we have a great spring/summer recruiting, we could be very good next year. If we miss, we'll need good fortune to make the NIT.

How does that work then? If Iowa fans are not expected to think their team can win and get to the tournament because of what they return?

Then you say the big 10 is weak with their schedule. How does that possibly favor any kind of argument that you have when all you do is speak out both sides of your mouth?

Get your butt ready for another ISU RELOAD. I think Dayton is both the first four site and a first round site next year. See you there maybe! Set your sights high, PIG REVENGE!

It's never as good or bad as it seems. No matter how bad you want to make it seem all of the time. What does it take to shut haters up if this season didn't do it?

I love our incoming backcourt of Lewis, Wiggington, and McNeil. Our front court will be stronger, not weaker, as it stands with Lard, Young, and Konsongo. This team has all the potential to win. In a recent interview, Prohm was asked about the projections for next year. He reminded the gallery one of his most successful years was a group of freshman and sophomores. I'd have to check but I believe he won 33 games that year. I also think Prohm is one of the best defensive coaches in the Big 12. Until proven otherwise I'm standing with Prohm. This isn't going to be a Hoiberg team that took a year and a half to "buy in". They finally bought in after the humiliating loss to Texas.

There's always that group of people (the minority) who bash the coach, players, and state how we'll never make the tournament. I view those people as old goat negative nannies in dire need of a colonic flush using a bottle of Exlax and a gallon of prune juice.

I remain cautious, just because of so many new players in the mix. There was a sense of that prior to 16-17, but I had higher expectations in preseason having Naz, Monte and Matt back.

It appears there's talent and potential for depth, and I'm confident about the impact of Jackson, Young and Weiller-Babb and how they might be able to increase production, so that's a solid core. I think projecting a 10 or 11 seed is reasonable with what we know at this point. If things gel well that threshold will go up. If ISU could get even one impact grad-transfer (especially a 4/5) I'd probably raise it to an 8 seed.

I'm not bashing at all. I love coach, the program, and the players, but I've also watched basketball for decades. The roster will need the anticipated upgrade this Spring to make the big dance.

I look forward to the Spring recruiting game.

So has Lunardi.

I think it's short-sighted for anyone to claim to know the ceiling of next year's team given the roster turn-over. Even if you have "watched basketball for decades."

Ill be the first guy in line to the Lunardi is overrated crowd, but fact is he is likely more qualified than most on here when it comes to this stuff.
I disagree. He knows more about other teams than I do but not more about ISU. People forget that. We generally know more about ISU than almost all of the national "experts".

In fact, we call national guys stupid all of the time when it comes to ISU. Half the time they barely know the appropriate names yet we are supposed to bow down to their knowledge?

Lunardi actually does pretty good predicting the filed and the seeding. Palm on the other hand...

IMO Lunardi putting us in his way too early bracket is more of a tip of the cap than anything.

With our current roster you are absolutely correct. I just can't see us being consistent enough to make the field. If we add the right pieces, then making the field should be the expectation though.

NO ONE knows **** about next years team. I bunch of fairly highly regarded newcomers mixed in with Jackson, Young and Babb. Anybody who is certain about the capabilities of next year's team is ful of it, including you.

If Lunardi knows more about all the teams in the country then us, then shouldn't that be something to consider when he slots us in as a 10 seed?

People using Lundardi as support for an argument gives me the chuckles. We (mostly me) should discuss once the roster is set since an upgrade is inevitable.

I stand by my statement that the current roster wouldn't make the NCAA tourney. Some disagree. It's all good and we will never know unless we have the worst Spring signing period ever.
