I would like to see us beat Auburn in a bowl game. It would make for a great national sports story. One that would NOT be quickly forgotten (at least by us, it would be).

If we lose, sure it would be a bummer, but it won't be that big of a deal. We lose to a school with a better overall program than us (we'll see what level Chizik takes it to...).

One thing is for sure, our fan base and players would be pumped to beat them.

I think the author acts like a scorned spouse that went through an ugly divorce. He just can't get on with his life. It is just silly and he really needs to let it go. Let's worry about the future and a win at A&M!!!!!

I agree. Why start talking about Chiz now other than to brag about how someone from the ex-staff emails you but you can't share it? There are more important things to worry about than an article written by someone who probably won't even travel to the bowl game.

I could care less to ever hear about Chizik again. Don't really care to play him or his team.

That being said, I'd be prefectly content that they don't even MAKE a bowl game, much less play them.

And I think it's an excellent fundraising opportunity for JP to open up Hilton, get the concessions fired up and broadcast the Auburn/Alabama game on the big screen, and come up with some agreement with the Alabama merchandising dept.

I don't care who we play, I just want for us to get into the best bowl game possible. Hopefully we have plenty of wins in us yet to make that happen.

I am focusing my attention on getting to the top of the Big 12 North...that is what I want. I don't want to reminisce on Chizik, let alone play him...just keep up on getting the North.

I disagree....we lose (and we stand to lose the most) our entire season is remembered as the year we lost to Chizik.

Granted I'd love to stick it to him and Auburn but I'd much rather not risk having that stigma tied to this seaon if we lost.

all im saying is that i think the fact that CPR even gets ISU to the same bowl game as auburn makes it a victory. i thkn if we lose everyone would talk about how ISU is on the up and auburn well... they are suppose to be good and were medicore this year. i really think there is only positives to come out of an ISU v Auburn matchup. plus i gotta have something to do with my chizik coin... ie: throw it at him!!!:skeptical:

I have to assume you were joking here. But even if you were joking, I don't like it. It's one thing to pour your heart and soul into cheering against someone or cheering for your team, but threatening violence crosses a line we Cyclones should want no part of.

We have a history of being classy through the good times and the tough ones. Let's remember to be proud of that.

I'm surprised so many don't want this game to happen simply because of fear in losing to Gene. Fortunately our coaches don't believe in fear.

Can we fart in his general direction?

I don't really give a damn about playing Auburn. I want to play in the best Bowl game possible against the best quality opponent possible--and beat them silly.

First off, I'd rather not have to go to Shreveport again. Second, I have no desire to discuss Chizik and Auburn for a month. Let's go to Phoenix.

No one is claiming they'd rather go to Shreveport than Phoenix, not even the author.

No one can claim that the storylines of an ISU/Auburn matchup would be huge. We might even pull the local media away from their Iowa fawning somewhat.

I'm tired about hearing about Chizik.

He left us. F-him. I sure don't want the insanity that would come with 4 more weeks of non-distracted Chizik hate.

The further we can get away from Gene Chizik, the better our program will be for it.

I think we should aspire for a better bowl but if it were to happen it sure would be a huge story line even nationally.

If you are projecting the national media coverage to be as great for this game, how would you feel losing this game and getting the national media coverage for that? IMO there could not be a more horrible situation. Here we have a team that is overachieving, and we love it. To have that season come to a bowl game with that weasel and then to have HIM come out with a victory, that would be a big kick in the balls if I have ever had one with Cyclone athletics. Talk about letting Chizik beat you again...National media would be all over that, "well, looks like ISU lost a great coach", "Chizik will light up the SEC next season", "looks like Chizik made the right move at the right time"...blah blah blah (I'm looking at you Herbstreit).

I would be more happy avoiding this game and building up national media recognition that gambling all or nothing on it and losing, only to take the media beating that would be to follow. We need to move on and aspire to a greater bowl and let Chizik live with himself and the increasing amount of angry Auburn fans.

Honestly, thats a candy-*** attitude. "We don't want to play this game because losing might be embarassing." Why should we be shying away from media exposure? We complain when we don't get it and then we talk about how much we'd like to take the easy way out. That is weak. I sure hope our team doesn't have that attitude.

Obviously I'd rather go to the Insight, Alamo or Holiday, but I'd take this matchup over the Texas Bowl.

I would assume the coaches/team have no fear.

But me as a fan cringes at the idea of playing Auburn. I just want to move on and enjoy the good times (and future) we have and NOT dwell on the past.

The ultimate ISU demons will be exorcised with an ISU win over Auburn in the Independence Bowl. We will open the doors to Big 12 Championships and BCS Bowls.

Oh give me a break. There are plenty of reasons not to want to play against Chizik and you single this post out. And last time I checked, national media coverage isn't good if it is against you...comparing you to the likes of FIU. There isn't any "fear" of Auburn...wouldn't you just rather get away from all that crap?! I know I would...

I don't want to play him FIRST because I would rather focus on winning the North and getting to a better game.

Are you kidding? ISU would have the most to lose? Thats laughable. If ISU would lose to Auburn, nationally it would still go down as the season that Chizik stumbled into a lower tier bowl and scraped by against his old team. It would certainly be more disappointing to lose to Auburn than any other team in a bowl, but a win would be much more pleasurable.

People keep saying lets play Navy and get that 8th win. Well, what if we lose that game? That would really be embarassing.
