He showed a ton of potential as a freshman, which is where the hype came from. He also had a 20pt, 14 rebound game against Arizona in the NCAA tournament. He didn't expand on that this year though.
And this year he has dealt with a variety of injury issues and it looks like family issues as well. So I wouldn't look to much at his numbers this year and say he isn't good. Like you said, he showed a ton of potential last year. I think it is still there.

Yep Omaha is pretty damn smooth. Have a tough time believing he won't be our starting 3 next year. Solid handle for a kid his size.
Anyone that hasn't seen him play can download IHSSN. His basketball to open the game v. Ames simply put me in awe.

Round 3 v. Waukee NW is in the evening session tonight.

I think he’s got a long way to go on the defensive side of the ball.
Maybe, but I don’t think Jaz is a defensive phenom. Our strength, defensively, is our philosophy. We do the best we can to funnel the ball and cut the floor in half. Using Jaz as the example, he has the length to support that. Milan is long as well.

Now…Jaz has some of that dog in him though. He’s willing (enjoys?) to do the dirty work. Take charges, bang down low/rebound. Can Milan do those things?

I don’t disagree with you. Just presenting a case where Milan could get run without a major defensive drop off.

Maybe this thread should be reset. It currently belongs in the cave.

I'm not opposed to threads going on to tangents. However, these are political tangents and I don't feel right posting JLH gifs when things get uncomfortably political.

Coming off two straight tournaments, a Sweet 16, and having the best recruiting class in school history, it makes me think of the line from Inception, "You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling." Not saying we wouldn't take a Harvard guy or Timberlake from Towson, but those aren't "game-changers". Gotta assume they'd be backup plans.
Yeah, who would take a guy like Abdel Nader when you can fill up bags of cash for a P6 guy.

You don't have to be fantastic on the ball in our system, but you do need to constantly communicate and know the intricacies of help defense and how to help and recover. That's what makes our defense so tough. No matter which way you go, or if you beat your man off the dribble, most of the time the help is there.
