The National Anthem is a dog whistle.

Sweet Caroline is a dog whistle too, for that matter......

Gravitas. Double Down.

If they were to do something, I think it'd be awesome if they found some way to change the narrative. Maybe everybody comes out from Texas and Iowa State standing together arms around each other's shoulders. It'd be especially powerful if the teams were mixed together and they went black and white every other person. It seems weird but showing that you're united as just plain Americans would actually pass as a protest these days if that's what kind of motivation it would take to get people to do it.
We almost surely will just stick to the status quo of not being on the field for the anthem but I wouldn't have a problem with something along these lines. Not sold on the racial pattern but a sign of unity wouldn't be terrible. Seriously doubt we see it though.

if a team thought he was good enough to help them win he most certainly would be on a team. wife abusers, rapists, murderers, kneel for the flag, doesnt matter. If tom brady and aaron rodgers thought he was actually that good, they would tell their team to sign him and they would. They know he isnt any better than anyone in the league especially considering the fact that current back up qb's on the team already know the offense. Once a qb is out of the league, they arent coming back for the most part. Ill take the opinion of football staffs that get paid to evaluate players for a living over some guy on the internet that recites stats.

are you talking about white people and black people every other? if you are, you should delete your account because that is the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard. Sounds like something that would happen on "the office" or something

The easy answer to this is to do what the cowboys did. kneel before the anthem together to protest whatever it means this week and then stand for the anthem to show that you respect the country you are given the opportunity to live in. Win/Win.

I personally don't care if someone kneels, sits, stands, salutes, or pretty much any other action during the national anthem. I don't care if teams are out or not, but I don't watch sports to get into political debates. I want to watch sports for the entertainment they provide without being forced to listen to an individual (announcers, fans, etc.) give their view point on whatever they think the protest is about.

Oh so he was better than roughly 5 starters for an entire year? Thanks for confirming me.

Congrats on being better than a few awful QBs on bad franchises. When he played for less than great offensive minds, he was awful and when he was with Harbaugh, he couldn't run the offense and he couldn't go through progressions. Coaches can see that. GMs can see that. Explain why Seattle brought him in and then didn't sign him. They probably have the most progressive, outspoken roster and coach in the league in these matters.

I think it would be pretty awesome if Campbell and Lazard marched the team onto the field before the Anthem on Thursday night. I can only imagine how many people would throw a fit watching Lazard take a knee. It wont happen but one can dream.
I think it would be complete b.s. and would affect how I support the program going forward. You think it would be awesome if Lazard took a knee during the National Anthem? You're kidding right?

i get that, but the protest isnt black vs white as many people try to make it, its supposed to be something about cops (black white asian etc) being violent towards black people. And even though cops have shot more white people than black people this year (and every year Im guessing) its disproportionate to the overall population. However the way I look at it, african americans make up approximately 24% of those shot by police and 28% of those arrested while whites make up 42% of arrests and 49% of those shot so the numbers seem pretty close when comparing actual run ins with the law but anyway. Not a black vs. white thing its a anti violence towards blacks by police.

Does this take into account how many of these people actually commit crimes?
68% of arrests are white, 49% of those shot are white, 28% of arrests are black 24% of those shot are black. African americans committ the majority of murders robbery etc even though the make up much smaller portion of the population. Media coverage will train you to think the numbers are much different.

I think the goal is just discussion or awareness. Right now unfortunately most of what's happening is explaining to morons that these players aren't protesting the flag or the anthem.

What the flag and anthem means to eac

they've shown that marijuana use is essentially equal in black and whites but blacks get arrested for it at much higher rates. It is a sick myth that blacks are more criminal. And the all cause mortality takes in a lot more than crime. There are numerous studies out that if a black and a white get charged for the EXACT same crime the black person is much more likely to do time for it.

I have actually avoided listening to a lot of all this, so I don't actually know, but have they declared that as the protest? I'm genuinely wondering. I always just kind of assumed it was, not a black v white thing, but a blacks are generally mistreated throughout society thing. That's how I'd protest it if it were me anyway.

Can you provide links for this? Everthing I have ever read would indicate this is incorrect. Thanks!

So like when the emo's hijacked the goth vibe, and then vampire kids hijacked them both? Got it.
