hopefully whatever the team does its not seen on tv and not mentioned.

I hate that any players now feel obligated to "pick a side". I was fine with guys protesting or standing before Trump made a mess of things. Now the anthem has been twisted into some grotesque test of patriotism in the eyes of many.

Kneel, stand, sit, stay in the locker room or tunnel...I don't care. Just think about why you're doing it and be prepared for all the consequences to follow, fair or unfair.

I think its unfair to young athletes that they probably feel like they are required to choose a side as well. I think that they probably feel whatever they do is being looked at under a microscope and many of them just want to play ball. Im assuming regardless what they do a lot are second guessing their decisions and I dont think any of them signed up to be poster 'boy/person" for a political statement regardless of whether they sit stand kneel or do jumping jacks or a tumbling routine during the national anthem. Tough spot.

By altering the the current procedure, and having the students take the field, this could give the appearance that the athletics department and ultimately the university is taking a stance on the matter. However, I would imagine that there is a policy somewhere stating that the university as an organization is not allowed to take a political stance on any issue. I fully support what the NFL players are doing, but I think it would be unwise for the coaches, athletic director, and the university itself to do this.

I think on a lower level, this would only stand to alienate some teammates. Much like I do not agree with having the team pray before a game. Some students may have other ideals and thoughts about the whole issue and may feel pressured to do something they may not want to do, or risk being ostracized. We need to remember that most of these guys/gals are still pretty young and trying to figure out what it is they stand for and who they truly are.

NFL: go nuts!
College athletics: not on the field
