This was a long time coming. And its not just 'an agenda'.

Things like BLM rose up largely not because of specific incidents, but because of decades of mistreatment by the police and judicial systems. They blew up when they did because the ubiquity of video cameras thanks to smartphones made it that much easier for people to go "See?! We've been telling you this for years, now we have proof!". People rallied around specific incidents, but if it hadnt been those, it would have been others as it was never about one incident.

Then a guy known for racist behavior throughout his history, whose only political renown was leading a racist movement against the president, and whose major (only?) policy stance was attacking mexicans as rapists and murderers, runs a campaign high in racial messaging, and appoints people known for racism into his staff, including his future AG who was deemed too racist by the senate to be a judge at one point.

These things were all blatant before the election. And maybe some voted for Trump for other reasons. But even when they did, they'd have to be blind or in severe denial to not see his racism, meaning they decided 'The effects of his racism aren't important to me because it doesnt affect me'. That, in itself, is a major part of the racism in this country, and something i think more people need to take away from these protests. Just because you aren't viciously racist, doesnt mean you aren't part of the problem

So were the people who are hispanic or black or any other race other than white that voted for Trump stupid in your opinion or what? White people weren't the only ones who voted for the guy.

If they were to do something, I think it'd be awesome if they found some way to change the narrative. Maybe everybody comes out from Texas and Iowa State standing together arms around each other's shoulders. It'd be especially powerful if the teams were mixed together and they went black and white every other person. It seems weird but showing that you're united as just plain Americans would actually pass as a protest these days if that's what kind of motivation it would take to get people to do it.

I guess i dont really mind if he kneeled during the anthem if we were typically on the field for the anthem. It would be strange for coach to change policy to allow alan to protest as suggested by the op.
I was really just looking to make my Tuesday evening a little more exciting. Which has happened. I don't really think we need to change the policy.

Yet you've done more ******** than proving that this is a widespread thing in this country at this time.
https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/fsd0512_sum.pdf
In the 8-year period between 2005 and 2012, black men received roughly 5% to 10% longer prison sentences than white men for similar crimes, after accounting for the facts surrounding the case.
https://www.aclu.org/sites/default/...achr_racial_disparities_aclu_submission_0.pdf
There are significant racial disparities in sentencing decisions in the United States.1 Sentences imposed on Black males in the federal system are nearly 20 percent longer than those imposed on white males convicted of similar crimes.2 Black and Latino offenders sentenced in state and federal courts face significantly greater odds of incarceration than similarly situated white offenders and receive longer sentences than their white counterparts in some jurisdictions.3 Black male federal defendants receive longer sentences than whites arrested for the same offenses and with comparable criminal histories.

The people trying to fix the division are being accused of causing the same division. Silencing people is not unifing them.

The only person who caused the division we are discussing right now is Trump.

I disagree to a degree. Trump has obviously caused a huge amount of division within the past week, but this division started ramping up when Kaep went unsigned. He got the Tebow treatment, as a QB who has a certain skill set but probably wasn't going to be a long term starting option.

Maybe Kaep should move to baseball. He did get drafted at one point IIRC.

You're right but it's still stupid. This move has been made during a national observance in the name of something controlled by localities. To be honest, the wrong person started it. I don't think Kap had any idea what he was getting himself into and I don't think he had quite worked through everything that may come his way.
Obviously I'm sure he wishes he was still playing football, but I believe he has a foundation or something he's doing also so I doubt he sees it as a total failure.

I think he probably just wishes he knew what he knew now. It didn't matter for most people but where I think he lost a bunch of traction is when he wore the socks, the Castro shirt, and made the modern day slave catcher comment. It was just too much to expect logical discourse, even if he was right.

You finally got me to comment on something I had been actively avoiding. Dickhead.

kaep isn't int he league for one reason and one reason only. and that reason has nothing to do with how good of a quarterback he is
