Grad tran

I'd say now:
1. Aiken
2.A. Barry
2.B. Perry

and a very distant

3 Eaddy

Yep. I’d take two of those to go along with a JC wing (Ellis?). Then best available, potentially a sit out transfer for the last spot.

Most of the anti-Prohm people on here have wanted Steve gone since the moment he stepped on this campus lol. He wasn't Fred Hoiberg and the next person was going to be plagued by that unless he did better than Fred. Any sort of stagnancy or struggles and everyone would get their pitch forks out and light the torches. The next coach after Prohm will be the complete opposite because everyone is going to say he's picking up the pieces where Prohm left things. There was a thread started to fire Prohm after we won 23 games for God sake lol.
This here should be the response for any and every fire Prohm post from now until next season starts. And truthfully.....replace Hoiberg with LE, and Prohm with Morgan and this post could have been used 16 years ago.

It would have missed the point then too. Cyclone fans have proven over and over that it isn’t about who the coach Is - we just want to win. Orr, Floyd,LE, Hoiberg, Prohm before it fell apart.... our fans just want a winner, period.

Maybe that thread was started because it was clear that was a peak year? Can’t fault them for being prophetic!!!

I believe Coach can get this turned around, particularly if he makes the right hires. Let’s do this. We’ve got the frontcourt, half the backcourt, and promising wings. Just need a couple pieces and a coach that can teach defense!

This is going to be a long offseason with nothing but people with time at home, already feeling frustrated, and nothing better to do than complain about a future college sports season that has a very real chance of not actually happening at all.

I understand what you're getting at here, but the fans who love seeing Steve fail and use this ideology are practically in a win win scenario lol..

If Steve does bad next year, he gets fired, and it's apparent he's not a good coach for this level. You win. If Steve turns it around, everyone not supporting him currently will say "See! All he had to do was be a better coach and it's working!" And you win again because you will claim he wasn't a good coach but magically became one.

If Iowa State does well next year, it will be because Steve made changes where they needed to be made and made conscious efforts to do so. Bad coaches don't do that. Bad coaches stay exactly where they are because they're unable to do the things they need to succeed, even if that means tearing something down to build it back up (what Steve is doing).

Lots of layers to bad coaching. For instance Danny Manning won at Tulsa and didn’t at Wake Forest. McDermott won at UNI and Creighton but not here. I don’t for one believe that CSP is a horrible coach. If he was a horrible coach he wouldn’t have won at Murray State or here in 2018-19. But there are many examples of either (a) a bad fit or (b) simply not a good to great coach.
The Big 12 is full of great coaches. CSP is probably the 9th best coach in this conference on resume and the 10th best coach just secured the #2 recruit in the country. I think the fact that the staff’s safe zone in recruiting is the South is a major problem.
I know they have recruited well at times in Wisconsin or Illinois but generally speaking the default oftentimes is South. I think that’s an issue.
Secondly, I do not believe that he has the ability to improve so much at in-game adjustments that we will have a bench advantage over any of the Top 5 programs in the Big 12.
If he turns it around and can maintain (which is the bar) then he will/should receive all the credit. But I think that will be tough based upon the factors outlined above.

i get no joy in any recruiting/roster speculation.

we're just going to have to see what prohm comes up with and if it can beat oregon state at home in Nov; can we not get killed in the holiday tourney, and can we stay within 20 of iowa on the road.

not putting any thought into mbb until early December.

it its ugly early, look out.

Can you imagine if there is no football season and we just have basketball only?

Things have not really changed. We don't need the best players.....we play in the Big 12. We don't need defenders. No one plays defense in this league in either bball or football.

Coach P got Xavier because he said "You will start". Fadin' Fran wasn't going to tell him that.

The BlueBloods took our program away when they chanced on the best transfers.
The contest for being stupid...

And there it is. You don't want ISU to be successful next year if it means Steve Prohm is successful next year. I've lived through 40 years of bad ISU sports and coaches, and I never went into a season hoping we'd lose enough for the coach to get fired, even when I was "sure" we had the wrong guy. I cannot relate to that.

Edit: On reflection, there is some logic to that. You don't want to be stuck with mediocrity as a ceiling. I still don't relate, but I can see why someone would feel that way. But you might want to give some slack to the guys who want to remain optimistic and hope for the best. There's really no harm in that.

I mean you completely hit the nail on this edit. That is exactly my thought process. Thank you for understanding

How bout you tell me why he would come here with this list:

Alabama, Arizona State, Gonzaga, Iona, Iowa State, Marquette, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon, San Diego State, Seton Hall, Texas and Wichita State.

We have very little talent on the roster, we have the worst coach on this list, and he can have immediate playing time with most of these schools.

ASU/SDSU/Marquette/Gonzaga/SH/OR all tournament schools, while OK/Texas/WSU all offer immediate playing time as well, with better coaches. If the list cuts down to Iona, Ole Miss and us, I like our chances.

Me thinks you might need a bit of sales training before we send you on the road to pitch the openings we have on the MBB roster for our beloved Iowa State Cyclones!
