Information/Quotes on "the shot"

He looks infinitely more comfortable now. Only licked his lips once when he mentioned the people that were cheering against him when he was at ISU. Good for Greg, and I hope he has some success at Creighton. Showed a lot of class today.

Some classy comments by McD. I'm glad to have this one behind me as a fan, and especially glad that we came out with a 'W'. I know it actually ended a few months ago, but the McD era is officially over for me now. I'm excited about the future of our program and the coaching staff we have in place. That's all the matters now as far as I'm concerned.

I was in the 2nd row, and hurdled the courtside people and was on the court celebrating with the team. I was soooo worried that they would waive it off and it would not only be a huge kick in the nuts, but I'm sure I would have looked like a complete idiot out there.

b. In games with a 10th-of-a-second game clock display and where an official courtside monitor is used, the reading of zeros on the game clock is to be used to determine whether a try for goal occurred
before or after the expiration of time in any period.

Official courtside monitor was not used. This rule does not apply.

Ref's said before the game that there is no replay, and what's called is what's called. Reviewing photographs of the red light on backboard does not apply either.

(I'm not trying to pick on your post with my comments either... they just lead into what I want to say).

Judgement calls happen throughout the entire game in many sports. One was made here. We won a game officiated that was officiated based on best judgement and not replays. I can understand the frustration of our opponents, but being on the other end of that type of call many times... I can understand that it's part of the game. No matter how much I complain about a bad call against ISU... it goes down as a loss in the end and it's part of sports.

Matt will talk about this tearful loss for the next three months. It was not like they were the better team.

For all the vitriol that the fans are throwing around for McDermott, the players in the video (particularly Diante) look like still have respect for him. That's good enough for me to put any hard feelings to bed.

And JVB said after the game he told Mac "I love you" and "thanks for everything you've done for me".

Like it or not, he's got a point. Will he take it to an extreme on his radio show tomorrow? Undoubtedly. But he's got a point.

Actually I think it will go something like:
Ken: how about that game yesterday, Matt?
Matt: Lucky shot that didn't count. Actually another topic we should discuss today is the color of waterbottles the patriots use.
Ken: yup I agree.

Don't care. Don't care. Don't care. Don't care. Don't care. Don't care. Don't care.

We win, period. What a great game to be at.

Listing to SportsWhineMatt will be fun.

After watching it again on channel 13, the clock still had time left after the red light came on.
Yea, I am not trying to nit pick to what nickp is saying. They've had issues with that red light going on well before the clock turns to 0. Had there been replay, they would have used the clock, not the red light. I just want to see a picture of where the ball is when the clock turns to 0.

Perrault sounded so whiny making that comment about the shot clearing being late to McDermott. Someone get him a tissue.

Do you guys self a favor. If you dont like listening to him talk about that, just dont tune in tomorrow. Keep the radio off. You will feel a lot better.

I guess I will be laughing if anyone calls in to whine. Its nice to be sitting on this side of the story for once.

I was trying to explain to billups06 and isutrevman that rule Art. 2. b. does not apply due to the fact that this game did not have an official courtside monitor.

Due to this lack of monitor, the official(s) must use the LED red lights. No replay was used, so the call on the floor stands. Had there been a official courtside monitor, the call would have changed.

Basically, I just agreed with everything you said (with the backing of NCAA Rules).

No hard feelings with you :)
