JVB Quotes

“It was a lucky shot I guess.”

“I can’t control what the refs say. If the refs say it is good then it is good in my book.”

DG on the shot

“I saw it and said ‘ah yeah that’s good. It went in and a great feeling went through my body.”

CU had no business being in it tied with us. The refs bailed them out on that foul call. You never call a shooting foul with the clock dying.

The pictures only show the red light. In reviews, officials use clock, not the red light, as they've had issues with the red light going on before the clock acutally hits 0:00. I wonder if anyone has a picture with the clock in it?

In regards to what u are saying about the red light I watached the replay of the shot on cylones.com and it appears the red light did go off before the clock hit zeros. I know its hard to see the clock but i tried hitting the play pause i think there is .1 seconds when the red light comes on but its hard to really tell. Oh well we got the W anyway

So we've played Northern Arizona, Ala State and next up Kennesaw State. Creighton has Kennesaw State up next according to McD presser. What's going on? Why are we playing all the same teams as Creighton? Are we in some round robin or something?

It's a tournament.

Yes; the BB schedule on cyclones.com calls it the Global Sports Hy-Vee Challenge.

I just got home from the game. I didn't cheer for what seemed like 5 minutes after he made the shot, because I was certain he didn't get it off in time and the officials were reviewing it. Not sure why there isn't video review in every game, regardless of whether it is on TV, but oh well. I will take the win.

Great, hard fought game by both teams.

Perrault sounded so whiny making that comment about the shot clearing being late to McDermott. Someone get him a tissue.

Yes it is a round robin "tournament".

From NCAA Rule Book

Basically, red LED lights worked so the offical(s) use this to determine the outcome. If the red LED lights DO NOT work, the offical(s) use the HORN to determine the outcome.

Section 7. Beginning and End of Period
Art. 1.
Each period shall begin when the ball becomes live.

Art. 2.
Each period shall end when the red light or LED lights have become
activated. When the light fails to operate or is not visible, each period shall
end with the sounding of the game-clock horn.
a. In games when the red light is not present, the game-clock horn shall
terminate players’ activity.
b. In games with a 10th-of-a-second game clock display and where an
official courtside monitor is used, the reading of zeros on the game
clock is to be used to determine whether a try for goal occurred
before or after the expiration of time in any period. When the game
clock is not visible, the officials shall verify the original call with
the use of the red/LED light(s). When the red/LED light(s) are not
visible, the sounding of the game-clock horn shall be utilized. When
definitive information is unattainable with the use of the monitor, the

original call stands.

One thing I noticed during state tournament games at Wells Fargo was that the clock on the video board that goes around the whole arena is always a split second off the clock on top of the basketball hoops.

Leave it to Matt P to whine about that. I like how GMac kind of stuck it to him.

. . . what a sniveling little immature creep. But I guarantee that Miller will chop off any callers who dare to call Giggles out on his anti ISU diatribe.

Ok. With that ruling, it looks like WF Arena would follow point B, as WF Arena
has 10th of a second game clock. So the clock would be used.

Moot point though, as the Ref's called it good. Had they reviewed it, it sounds like they would use the actual clock.

Like it or not, he's got a point. Will he take it to an extreme on his radio show tomorrow? Undoubtedly. But he's got a point.

My take is that this balances out the bogus call at the Phog six or so years ago where the refs gave KU a bucket while ISU was still owed one free throw. Still can't believe they let that stand.
