It is clear that the Lights around the backboard and the horn sounds 1 or 2 tenths before the clock hits zero
I downloaded that video from facebook and looked at it frame by frame and it looks like the light comes on the instant the clock above the backboard hits 00.0. And the ball is clearly still in JVB's hands. But I'll take it! That was an unbelievable game to listen to.

Very classy by GMac. He didn't complain and accepted it.

Something for you to consider...

GM is the person directly responsible for this game not being on TV and hence not having any monitor to review. It was his ineptitude at ISU that leads us to this day where our program garners so little respect that TV people assume no one wants to watch ISU MBB on TV.

The pictures only show the red light. In reviews, officials use clock, not the red light, as they've had issues with the red light going on before the clock acutally hits 0:00. I wonder if anyone has a picture with the clock in it?

The light on the backboard is there for this exact reason. The light determines the end of the period.

He looks infinitely more comfortable now. Only licked his lips once when he mentioned the people that were cheering against him when he was at ISU. Good for Greg, and I hope he has some success at Creighton. Showed a lot of class today.

You have got to be kidding me!!

The guy had the nerve to insinuate that ISU fans were "cheering against him". He must live in some alternative world because from my chair he was given more benefit of the doubt than about any coach could be for the results he produced...especially in light of the fact that his production as our coach was far inferior to his predecessor that was shown the door pretty darn quickly.

Maybe he should have worried a little more about coaching at ISU and a little less about what the fans may or may not be thinking.

C'mon man.....we all know the guy failed miserably at ISU, but you're looking into this way too far. He made the comment as an afterthought in a joking manner. If you watch the video you would agree.

I agree with you here, it's time to move past throwing GMac under the bus and move on. GMac represented ISU well and he's never said anything bad about his time here since leaving. He even mentioned some good things in the post-game how he helped bring some of our guys to ISU and wishes nothing but the best for them and ISU. GMac's system was not a good fit here but I have no ill-will towards him and like I said in another post we should all be glad he left before he was fired so we didn't have to buy out the remaining contract he had. I think everything will be win-win for both schools once all is said and done. I think GMac will be a good fit in the MVC and Fred already has brought some excitement back and on the plus side we aren't having to pay 2 contracts right now either.

As long as some people are on this "let's correct the historical record" kick, when are we going to start petitioning the NCAA to review the call at the end of the '01 Independence Bowl? Yelk's kick looked good from where I was sitting.

Let's not forget Seneca vs. FSU 2002.

(He's never said anything bad about his time here) What would he have to say about his million dollar contract and his sorry performance as a coach. That he ripped off I.S.U for big bucks and scurried like a rat because he knew he was going to be fired after the next year. He's a hero.

Quotes from Greg McDermott on JVB's buzzer beater

“There is no monitor. We’ll never know. Actually we will know because they counted it. We had as good of an officiating crew as you could ask for. If they say it counted, it counted.â€￾

“They let us know that before the game. They told both coaches. It is unfortunate because you hate to have a game decided when you don’t know for sure. But the reality is that I’ve got all of the confidence in that officiating crew. If they said that it was off before the light went on, then it was off.â€￾

I have a lot more stuff on the way.
