Such a fantastic movie, but there is no way to make a sequel unless you use the alternate ending.

From what i've read the ending of the movie totally missed the point of the book. I've seen the movie..have yet to read the book. I know what the book ending is supposed to be and think it would have made the movie even better.

***Spoiler Alert*** <---A link to explain what I was talking about.

Maybe they will take the alternate ending and move forward in the second movie.

Maybe he awakes from a dream.

If the main character from Crank can survive falling out of that helicopter for a sequel, I don't see why they couldn't here.

Ugh, if it's a sequel, I don't see how they can have Will Smith have a major acting role in it without it being a poor story line. I guess I could be wrong though.

Which is a worse idea for a sequel with Will Smith's character, pulling a "you thought I died but I really didn't" or "they used my DNA to make a cloned version of me"?

I think they could pull off the 'waking up from a dream' scenario.

I really liked this movie so I hope what they come up with is just as good.

I am Legend had potential but fell flat for me. The scene where he chases the dog into the building to find that nest of creatures was so well done until they revealed the super human digital creatures. Then it was all down hill from there.

I am legend book >>> movie. It's too bad because Will Smith was amazing as Robert Neville in that movie. Whoever worked on the development of the infected and botched the ending did not deserve their share of the pie.

Maybe they should let John Hillcoat direct that movie. He knows how to translate an apocalyptic movie from print to screen.

The book and movie really don't have much to do with each other. I read the book afterwards, and am glad 'cuz I would have been PO'd.

They could almost do a Legend II that was more true to the book. I'd be interested in that. Otherwise, I think I'll pass.

The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price was the first movie based upon the book. They were much more vampire-like in that movie.

Because of this thread I found and watched I am Legend with the original ending. It was so much freaking better. Seriously, it actually made sense.

I haven't read the book but I'd like to. I just watched the alternate ending for the first time. I'm not sure which one I like more. If the new movie isn't gonna be a prequel, I'd prefer the alternate ending over the original.

Loved the movie. Loved the book. Glad I read it after seeing the movie though. The movie barely follows the book at all. It's a very very rough outline for the movie. I could definitely see them doing a sequel showing how society had recovered with flashbacks of Neville. It'd definitely be intriguing.

I thought the movie was awesome at first but then I realized when I watched it again, it was only good because Will Smith is fantastic in it. It has to be pretty hard to play a role in which you hardly interact with other actors. I thought he was awesome, but the plot, etc was just OK. It certainly was no 7 Pounds.
