While I'm sticking with my Playa Del Carmen advice I gave earlier, another good option would be New England. Rent a car, drive around, some of the prettiest country in the US. You could stop in Boston, NYC, or not?

If you decide on Playa I have friends that live there and own a great hotel.

Which Hotel? I will be down there in a month in a small hotel on the beach about 20 steps from the ocean.

I do agree that Playa is more mom and pop, but the resorts are quite as nice as the Moon Palace..... We never leave the resort. It depends on what you want for a honeymoon. If he had said, "We don't want to be in a touristy type place" I would say Playa. Just keep in mind, it take about an hour more to get to your resort.

If you want upper end AI, then Playa has that as well. The Royal Porto Real is very nice and right there in Playa. Moon Palace is a nice place with a man-made beach but very, very remote but it is an expensive taxi ride each way to either Playa or Cancun. The Royal has jacuzzis in every room. And they have the awesome canopied beach beds for laying out on the beach.

Cancun airport is south of Cancun and it takes about 45 minutes to get to Playa from there. We book a private transfer and stop at the 7-11 south of the airport and buy beer for the ride to Playa. It is about a 3 beer drive from there. But I am really thirsty after a long plane ride.

We went to Destin florida for our honeymoon. It was great!! There is a company online that has a promotion for destin hotels right now They are called Bookit. Other than that if you don't want to do the hotel you could look at vbro.com for a vacation property rental. I've also heard great things about Cuba...... just a thought.
Whatever you decide have a great honeymoon.

Cheers

I prefer US because we plan to leave on a Monday and have to be back by Saturday. Just don't have a ton of time.

Go on a 5-night cruise out of Florida. Like someone else said, its a great vacation. I bet you could get something for less than $800 for both of you for the cruise part. Airfare out of DM to Ft. Lauderdale is pretty cheap...around $200-$250 each most of the time.

I would also recommend Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, or Princess.

Jamaica's a 4hr flight. Not bad at all:yes: And I think they recomend leaving on a weekday anyway.

Kuyaba is on 7mile beach, has reasonable rates, and nice rooms. It is not an all inclusive, but less than 5minutes by taxi is a grocery store. (some of the rooms have a stove) or you spend your money in their excelent resturant. I'm hoping to be there for my birthday....
