Crazy Thread ----

I think TT has feasted on too many cupcakes. The long plane ride north and all that frosting will have them throwing up on themselves the first big hit they take from Jake or A.J. After that TT will be so emberased they won't want to play any more and the Clones cruise to 4-0.

I want to respect TT more but it sounds like they have alot of internal problems and some poor dietary habits.

ISU 34 TT 23

They have not even left the state of Texas this season, with the plane ride to Des Moines and the game at 6 now they will have a long time to think about the *** whooping they are about to get.

I just don't think anybody should be able to treat the administration like he did, and be able to survive. I couldn't go into my job, and tell my boss to "F__ Off", and be able to come back to work. Sometimes we treat these coaches more than what they should be. We treat them as icons. If they are good people, treat the kids great, kids graduate, and become good citizens, BUT they don't win...then they get fired. If the coach is a *******, and treats people like slaves, and like he owns the school, but wins, then he keeps his job, and gets raises, and is treated like a God at said school.

Leach didn't recruit, and in fact cancelled recruiting trips to go do what HE wanted to do. Leach didn't fundraise for the school to help SUPPLEMENT his own income, and to bring about better changes. We are just now trying to get a nice videoboard for the stadium, and an indoor practice facility. He never tried to take advantage of the success people thought he was having, although 3-4 of his wins every season were against these same creampuffs that we are still playing. Leach didn't try to build a defense, and didn't even know some of the defensive players names. Leach was CONSTANTLY looked for another job, and it cost us in recruiting. Leach's lack of recruiting really cost us last year on defense. We had 3 walk-ons playing in the secondary, and also had a converted WR STARTING at CB for us. It's starting to cost us on the OL this year, too. If we have an injury, or two on the OL, we are screwed...just like at DB last season. Who knows, we might have to have punter playing OT (jk, of course).

Tuberville is actually trying to build a PROGRAM, and that only comes through recruiting. He's also trying to run the ball more, which I appreciate. He's not going to go for it on our 25 yard line like Leach. I'll take Tuberville, and his recruiting abilities over Leach's offense any day. Also, his fundraising. Tuberville is trying to recruit speed, something Leach didn't care about.

Leach will get a nice QB, or WR every once in a while at WSU, but he won't have the same success he had at Tech. He won't recruit, and just doesn't have the recruiting base he had in Texas.

Leach didn't care about Tech, and doesn't care about WSU. He only cares about his offense, and himself.

A decade later ISU fans have the same differing opinions about former NCOTY Larry Eustachy. You'd still get 180 degree opinions on the man from one fan to the next.

Of course the debate is just a novelty now that Hoiberg seems to have absolutely no limits to his upside so far :) ...but the debate will still come up and still have drastically different opinions.

If it was ISU coming to play at TTU and I made the argument... ISU have not even left the state of Iowa this season. Would you think... well you make a good point there or doesn't really matter what does is the home field advantage/night game.

I agree road games in a hostile environment are what is important, not how far away or what state they are in.

That being said ISU has won in a very hostile environment @Kinnick in front of 65,000 Iowa fans.

There definitely was.

Here's a nice little video of Leach after a win against BU just in case you haven't seen it. He gets a little mad.

You didn't build that!
Sorry, couldn't resist. :jimlad:

And really, Iowa City isn't part of Iowa. More extreme Western Illinois :jimlad:

The last 2 times we played tech we scored on d, special teams and forced many turnovers ... We need to win those battles again.

Texas Tech has punted twice in 3 games, fewer times than any team in the country. ISU has punted 19 times. We've played cupcakes but our offense is firing on all cylinders, which was not the case in 2009-2011 when Tech struggled to find offensive consistency against the same or similar cupcakes. Now I'm hungry for dessert.

Against New Mexico, Tech's defense held the Lobos to 84 yards rushing (2.4 ypc) and 124 total yards. Compare that to the previous week when the Lobos had 206 yds rushing (4.4 ypc) and 241 yards total offense against Texas. UT's offense managed to gain 431 total yards vs. New Mexico compared to Tech's 702 yards (incl. 325 yds rushing). And unlike UT, Tech never struggled against UNM. Now I'm not saying Tech is better than UT, we're not, but these are more signs that our program has turned the corner. Most important for our upcoming game is that Tech is 2-deep healthy. Last season we had starters dropping like flies from the first quarter of the first game when starting DE/DT Leon Mackey suffered a punctured lung and it went downhill fast from there. Midway through the season Tuberville was converting and starting WRs at CB, starting non-scholarship players at Safety, and burning through redshirts like a meth-addled arsonist because he had no other options. It was ridiculous and aggravating.

But considering ISU is playing TTU at home I don't know how much beating Iowa @Iowa factors in here.

Oh boy, they are spreading.
Tech's confident, no reason not to be as the chemestry is certainly there. But the constant stat comparisons between ISU and Tech is irrelevent due to standard of competition. I guarantee you that Tech punts more than twice on Sept 29th

I have to say I'm a lot shocked by the confidence of TTU fans.

I can't imagine going on the road to play a school that has beaten us 52-38 and 41-7 in the past two seasons and returns the majority of their relevant players, and expecting to win. In any circumstance. Especially if we had only beaten cupcakes and they had beaten a couple legit programs.

Somehow, our big rivalry win on the road against a BCS opponent doesn't factor in, though. I'm not sure how that fits into their wildly skewed calculations, but it apparently didn't count or didn't happen.

Texas Tech doesn't have the strength of heart to walk into Jack Trice and beat this ISU team. Our defense will fight like junkyard dogs for four quarters of ugly brutal football, and the Red Raiders will leave bruised and beaten.

Why is it shocking? Generally people are confident in their team till they lose. Hope springs eternal every year and all that.

Most Tech fans seem to be of the opinion that last season was not normal. More the exception than the rule. The aforementioned issues between the DC and the defensive players. Concluding with the eventual firing of the DC and some new assistant coaches. You also have the rash of injuries that happened last season. Plus last season Adam James was still the team now this is year 3 of Tubs and he's got time to bring in his guys.

If TTU can not turn the ball over 3 times like in the past 2 games vs ISU it should make for a closer game.

Yes Tech has only beaten cupcakes but they beat them how you are suppose to. Iowa is of course a legit program. But when did Tulsa become such a powerhouse? Todd Graham isn't there anymore and G.J. Kinne graduated. Are they better than New Mexico or Texas St? Sure. Are they Boise St/TCU? No not really.

I think ISU is the favorite. It's a home night game and they have played a tougher OOC schedule (not that hard to do with TTU's OOC). Despite the horrible OOC, losing 2 seasons ago @ISU, and losing a season ago to ISU. Yes I'm confident that TTU still has a chance to win.

ISU Defense>Texas Tech Offense
ISU schedule to this point>>>>>>>>>>>Texas Tech schedule to this point

I just sent Rhoads an email, going forward I think we play Savanna State twice in the non conference and New Mexico going forward that is the only rational decision after all this. PAD THE STATS BABY!!!
