Guess I’ll watch the Belmont Stakes. Forgot about it until I saw an article this morning.
Suppose I should like Journalism because that was part of my BS. Or because I think there’s still hope for true journalism today.
Edit to explain: I hire students through the CALS science with practice program/course and need to teach each one about journalism-style writing and how that differs from other types of writing I have them do. End of course comments from many say they knew nothing about it before this experience and are proud they learned about it and understood its importance.

Had someone looking at our basement walls today he wanted to see the sump pump pit. I pulled the top off and it was brim full! I raised the float higher to see if the switch would kick in on, but nothing. Damn!! Figured I needed a new pump. Turns out the plug in which is attached to a power strip plugged right above the Metronet modem power chord. The sump pump cord was kind of angled into the outlet. I had 3 empty outlets on power strip yet, so I moved it up one and the pump started right up! Thankfully a quick fix!! Just wast fully plugged in.

Well, there’s always room for improvement. Was a fun race to watch anyway.

LOL, impromptu family gathering today started with Minn niece and husband, then youngest niece and family, my sister and all of her family in the afternoon. Ended up with 14 of us at my parents. Nothing fancy just brats hot dogs and chips.
It was fun.

I swear the best gatherings are just like this instead of a bunch of scheduled stuff.

Who won the Belmont this yr?
Sovereignty. Others were ahead much of the race, then Journalism got to the front. Sovereignty really came on toward the end and won by three lengths.

Had about a 15 hour day yesterday. Went to the dairy breakfast yesterday morning. Huge turnout. Of course, there were 2 guys with hawkeye shirts on. Then went to New Glarus for a little bit. They're expanding the brewery so it's closed, but the old one in town is open for tasting. Went to Monroe, which is just south of there, for lunch. Lot of Swiss heritage and architecture in that area. Then went a little west of there to a small lake/park, took a walk around it, which was very long. Put a blanket down under a tree and just laid down for a while. Stopped at a few bars on the way back and then yeah. And yes, I was with someone.

Nice! I hope it was the start of many more great days!

We had an old fart hawkroach at our hotel here in Athens. Different tour group though...yay!
I give him a pass though. He and his late wife are alums, as are three of his four kids (the other one came over to the good guys). And he has two grandkids currently enrolled. Every once in a while you meet a REAL hawk!

As some may know, I have a small collection of album covers I frame and put up in the man cave. Mrs Althetuna bought me another for my birthday. It was on my desk this morning. I believe this one will get a prominent spot on the wall.
