I know I can buy a website address from GoDaddy.com and places like that, but where can I buy one and own it forever and not have to keep renewing it? Thanks for the help.

I think you are probably always going to have to renew.

Every website must pay to renew the registration, it's one way to make sure that the pages are being used and that they're still valid addresses.

I actually think 1and1.com has a lot more competitive pricing: Hosting : Web Hosting : 1&1 Internet Inc. My dad and I signed up for the 2 domain package several years ago when he was doing his own business thing. I've done all the administrative stuff with the domains we have and really found it to be pretty user friendly as well as reliable.

Godaddy is solid. I would go with them.

I use Godaddy they usually have good deals.

Me too.

Do some google-ing and you'll find a ton of coupon codes that'll get you 30% + off simple registration. I think more if you want to buy hosting as well.

I renewed a few last spring at about $7/yr

Not having to renew them would be nice. GoDaddy is pretty good and pretty cheap.
