I typically try to hold out until December 1st to turn mine on but last night tested my will power. When I woke up at 6:30 this morning, it was 55 degrees in the house. But I resisted...at least for a few more days/weeks.

Testifying
I lived in one of Furman's apartments the last two years and a combination of living on the second floor and having a 50 inch plasma meant I never, ever turned my heat on.

The house I'm in now is a little older so we just turned it on this week.

I did because I wanted to ensure it ran. It sucks trying to get service in about a month when they are busy.

And guess what...it didn't turn on so I needed service to get it going.

I checked to make sure it worked, but no way I'd keep it on yet, I avoid paying that bill as long as possible. It's still in the 60's or so in the house at night, plenty warm if you put on a sweatshirt.

I did this morning. I didn't particularly need it, but I've got a pet rabbit and it's freezing in his area because the windows are so drafty. Didn't want him dying, so I turned the heat on until I'm able to get some plastic on the windows this weekend.

I held out yesterday but found it hard today since my daughter is home with me and it was 60 degrees so I JUST kicked it on. And yes, some of us like to spend our money on other things when you have a work around(More Layers). Especially since Heating cost twice as much as Air conditioning.

I have it on...set to a really low temperature (around 64)... just bought the house. Last winter the house burst a few pipes and I would rather pay a bit of a gas bill to make sure the house stays a safe temperature than have to work to clean up a burst pipe.

Turned it on about 11:00 last night, knowing it was going to get down to around 20 last night. Turned it off at 8:00 this morning.

I must have some good insulation. It only got down to 63 for me but I did just turn it on.

I must be getting old, I've hard our furnace on a few times the last few weeks, though when its in the 40s outside all day, kind of hard not to. This time of year, I curse that our house has a gas fireplace. Our old house had wood burning fireplace, and I'd do a fire to take the chill out. But unless you build it yourself, all new construction is gas fireplaces, at least around here.

It's already down in the low 60's in our master bedroom. It's over the garage, which probably doesn't help with this. Maybe I'm getting old, but neither my wife nor I want to put up with a room that chilly for very long.
