What’s interesting about putting the pieces together, which is pretty damn important, is the conviction to small ball. Some have alluded to that stemming from his experience with the 16-17 team. That timing seems suspicious given we chased the forward position to the bottom of the barrel after that season to help facilitate playing multiple forwards. I’m sure last year led to some introspection though.

With the staff’s penchant for finding guards, it bodes well if this is a philosophical platform.
Yeah. I'm excited for the future as well. I think Leech and Jackson will both fit in the small-ball role well. Anderson fits the role of the stretch-big too

I do not think he went into that season looking to play small ball.

But I think he came out of it realizing that...

Shooter/Scorer
"Power Guard/Wing/Mismatch Guy"
Traditional Big

...works really well.

Double that if you are switchtastic between 1 and 4 on defense, and your guards are rangy or crafty enough to guard just about anybody in an adequate fashion.

Interchangeability on offense is just as valuable, as well.

It would not be the first time that somebody stumbled into something that works and they really like more by accident and necessity than really by initial design.

I really think this is the best team since I’ve been a fan (2003). I put a decent amount of money on us at 200-1 to win it all this offseason. This is ISU’s best team since Hampton.
I see what you're doing but I do not like it one bit

Would it be any better if I said "best team since the blarge"? That team was one of the top 2 teams in the country.

The blarge was in a game after a run vs. a good team that made you question refs.

That night in Boise was some sick twisted **** that makes you question physics.

It certainly doesn’t hurt when two of those guards (NWB and THT) have the body and size to guard forwards. Shayok probably can as well, even though he doesn’t have the bulk the other two do. Our “small ball” is actually pretty big in size.

Oh, they're out there...there's a few things that come up here and there that still passively throw him under the bus.
There are a couple who really don’t like him but most people have really just been critical of some decisions. He’s done a pretty good job this year. A lot of the overreactions to the loss were the fact that KState and Baylor at that point looked awful. Both have shown to be really good since then. Neither loss is super bad at this point but the KState one looked really bad at the time. Even if we lose at TCU or at Texas that won’t be horrendous.

Prohm is not a perfect coach. He still has some glaring weaknesses. That said he has done a good job this year for the most part.
