It was Bandhauer and DannyMac was the coach. On the bright side, it paved the way for Sage to start a year earlier than he probably would have, which lead to our only 9 win season.
We are damn near identical to Iowa, sorry. If anything, they have a darker yellow than us.
We are definitely not between Iowa and San Francisco, either. We're nowhere close to this.
Here's gold and yellow side-by-side for a comparison. We are much closer to the Packers than the Niners.
Here would be my choices for wardrobe (in addition to current home standard and Trice throwbacks) — I'd keep current cardinal shell just to be able to go cardinal-white-cardinal on the road:

I like them all besides the all gold and white jersey/gold pants. Pants need to be cardinal almost all the time IMO. Gold pants for alternate home might be ok.

I stand corrected - mainly for ISU-Iowa comparison (I might have been better to just list it as SF-ISU/Iowa-Yellow)
Nice work! I think yellow helmet/cardinal jersey/cardinal pants would be a good combo. The all yellow look may be too much for me though...
The Hawk on Iowa's helmet is distinctly yellow. Pants are a little darker yellow than ISU's "gold"
Not going to lie, I think all "gold" would look shark if they had "gold" helmets, but if they wore cardinal I would be disappointed. That would be hideous and a waste of money to buy the jerseys. I would much rather have black jerseys if anything, black looks great with mostly anything.
No no no no no no to the solid color look on the pant/jersey/helmet. That 4-5 year look in CFB is over for the most part. Thankfully. Maybe try a time machine and go back to 2005 if that's your thing.
Black with red lettering and this helmet. Mostly just any excuse to wear this helmet design.
Black is a horrible idea. Never seems to work well if it isn't in the school's primary color scheme. Just ask NW, Neb, or KU.
Except for the whole "sitting out a year for NCAA transfer restrictions" thing. He just happens to have his RS year left, he was going to sit out anyway.

Intersting that you would compare to the 49ers as it was the 49ers who in the 60's? Or may e 50's I believe purchased the rights to their gold color from??. That's right Iowa State. And that is why we went to the awful shades of mustard yellow instead of a real gold color.
Yes if you get hurt and have only played a small percentage of games you can apply for a medical waiver if you haven't used a redshirt year already. Unless your name is Jess Settles.
He'll be on the sidelines in full gear, most likely, just can't set foot on the field.
