Wonder if that’s a thing moving forward. Seems like he would want to stay at 157 for a shot at the title. I don’t know if he gets past Hall though.
Pat Glory from Princeton is also wrestling up at 133. Just guessing they are giving them a break from cutting weight over the holiday, but who knows. Maybe testing the waters...???

Listening to Flo, they said Glory then scratched from the tournament

Agreed on the disappointing brackets.

One other interesting thing I noticed, is Quincy Monday wrestling up at 165. He and Hamati should have a good match in the finals.

Good lord, 65 has to be the toughest weight, right?
I still think there are clear tiers at 165. Title contenders are O’Toole, Griffith, and David. Then you have the next tier of Hamiti, Kharchla, Monday, Ramirez, Amine, and Peyton Hall fighting for spots 4-8 with the Facundos and PKs after as R12 and potential AA contenders

Is it the most credentialed weight in NCAA history? 3 NCAA champs, a runner-up, 4 other returning AAs.

I’d never claim to be a wrestling historian but I’d be interested to see what other weights/years would be in contention.

The year Kyle Dake and David Taylor wrestled in the finals was a pretty decorated weight

There was a thread on this on the new Intermat Forums. I think the most recent time that there has been 3 previous champs all at the same weight was 1982. Schultz, Banach, and Reiss.

Agree. It’s wild though. There’s gonna be likely a couple really high caliber guys that don’t see the podium. Good thing David has balls of steel. That bracket is gonna be a hell of a brawl the whole weekend.

It's right up there for sure. Flo had an article a while back about the 2008 149 bracket which included: Brent Metcalf, Bubba Jenkins, Jordan Burroughs, Josh Churella, Darrion Caldwell, J.P. O'Connor, Dustin Schlatter and Lance Palmer.

On another note, looks like Echmendia is wrestling in the Soldier Salute @ 149 and will get Rathjen in the Semis then Murin in the finals if he makes it. Will be interesting to see where he's at.

David wrestles to his competition from my perspective. This is a good bracket for him in my opinion.
